This is a tribute to Boro fan from Ashington, Brian Robinson, who passed away yesterday.
When Brian's cancer worsened, Yvonne Ferguson invited him to be guest at a Boro game. Brian was so thankful for the experience that he penned me this article for the fanzine about a day that was a light in the darkness for him at the time. Not that you would know from the article that he was even ill.
Brian actually enjoyed a further 12 months of extra time including a birthday he toasted with friends at Christmas time last year, I was fortunate to be there at the Bridge Inn, Newcastle. We toasted Boro with Newcastle castle keep just behind us.
I thought you might like to read his words about his day out at the Riverside for Boro v Ipswich as a little tribute to a Boro fan in Ashington.
Brian Robinson RIP.

RIP Brian, another member for the holgate in the sky x

Nice write up Rob, I liked the part 'After the game we had a little chat with Rob Nichols and he asked me my reason for being a Boro fan whilst living up in Ashington. Well, that stems back to 1976 when I watched good old ‘Shoot’ on the tv on a Sunday. I followed the Boro purely because they had never won anything major and were always classed as the underdogs. That was my incentive and the 70”s brought a team that was full of talent David Mills/Alan Foggon/Stuart Boam/Mark Proctor

Yvonne Ferguson is a credit to Middlesbrough Football Club also

Yes she is. And she keeps all she does very private because the fans she is dealing with deserve that privacy and respect that she gives them.
So, people are never fully aware just how many individuals and families are helped on an almost weekly basis by the Boro.
