As the mighty Boro beat Scunthorpe 3-0 at the Old show ground, recording our 2nd double of the season
This was our 17th away hattrick & 89th in total as a league club since 1899

We had beaten Scunthorpe earlier in the season 6-1 at AP, when both Brian Clough & Alan Peacock bagged a hatrick each, double hattricks scorers in the same game for the third time in our history
 
He also became the 32nd Boro player to score a hattrick (hattrick meaning 3, not 4 or 5 etc)
 
Unfortunately I didn't see much of Clough, although he did play in the first ever game I watched. A 3-1 defeat of the Boro with Clough playing for Sunderland at Roker Park, first game of season 62-63 (?)

What a phenomenal goal scorer, over several seasons as well, arguably not in particularly good sides.

Was at the 6-1 game. Me Dad got me in with a squeeze into the Chicken Run.
My first full season at A P, Dad had took me to two games at the end of the previous season. Eddie Holliday played left wing at the time. He had a great season and played for England 3 times that season. Cloughie only got 2 caps despite scoring 40+ goals 5 seasons running
Boro had a great attack on those days but couldn't defend for toffee. That's the main reason B C left to join ***********
 
His name is billy lee, now I wouldn’t know if he went by William in them days or wether lee is spelt lee or Leigh etc...
ive known billy many years, but only as how it sounds ...billy .

told me about a time in the group baths, cloughy was older than the others and he tried to order others to go get him a drink while he was bathing 🤣
well, you can guess what he was told to do
