Breaking - Another Shooting in America

It's depressing that using the term breaking is an exaggeration.

It's a daily occurrence now.

I'm sad for the people who've been killed, of course.

  • School shootings across the US: With the shooting at UNLV, there have now been 80 US school shootings so far this year, according to a CNN analysis. Of those, 51 shootings have been reported on K-12 campuses and 29 on university and college campuses.

Breaking is a term used when a story first hits the news. If you look now it says BREAKING: Sunak to hold press conference. He holds one every other day. So it is not exaggerated, but I get your point, it is not headline news anymore.

I see the shooter was a former college professor in his sixties.

Just accepted now as part of that society.
Oh look here's another one. How many this time.
Like Thanksgiving and Mums Apple pie.
A society as extremist as any other.
Civilisation my ****.

There are shootings in the US every day so it's just the norm

Can't be commentators on it everytime one happens to be reported in the media when we all know it happens every few hours

It's actually become boring now as horrible as it sounds

I think that is what TeaCider is saying when he mentions it isn't breaking news.

This chart shows the utter insanity of the situation.

OK. it's not per head of population so that would bring the country of 330 Million closer to the rest (except China 1, India 5 and Indonesia 0) but still. Utterly crazy

Even if it was proportionate to population, the US figure would dwarf all others in that list.

Agreed, even my quick and rough maths would say that the US has nearly 9 school shootings per million people.

Estonia are probably next and they have about 0.8 school shootings per million. Utterly shameful
