Bowling greens

Nothing from our club who were quick enough to lock down the premises and hang onto this years subs.

We normally play indoor short mat bowls twice a week. Going to be a while yet until we restart as our venue is quite small.

The ruling authority (England Bowls ?) seems to have given the go ahead (13 May) and now has suggestions on segregation etc.
Have any Bowls Clubs reopened ?

My local club reopened yesterday.
Quite nice to sit and watch in the early evening.
Will be better tonight tho - will have a glass of something to accompany me

My neighbour has been popping down to the local club each day to keep it in good order. He last night that its opening in a couple of weeks time.

Clubhouse closed, so no toilet facilities but washing facilities available outside. He mentioned two jacks that need to be washed each end, as well as the mats.

I can only imagine that you're playing a lane each if two jacks are required, then measuring.

Our local green (famous for its part in the Worlds End film) has about 10 or 12 what look like plastic bottles arranged at regular intervals (all stood up).

It looks like they're anticipating reopening , but does anyone know what these bottles are for ?

Could be to deter cats from relieving themselves

Pretty much as above - to deter foxes who dig up greens. The theory is that they catch tneir reflection in the bottles and it scares them off.

And it seems you are a Letchworth Garden City dweller.

Thanks, and yep - walk past the "famous" bowling green on my way to the station every morning, as well as other sites from the film like the art deco Broadway cinema which is the nightclub in the film.
