Both Sunderland & now Newcastle have hit the owners jackpot

I’d rather have an owner who didn’t have an appalling human rights record. Pretty sure SG never ordered a hit on the likes of Kashoggi, I’d be ashamed if they took over the Boro.

No doubt that in a couple of seasons there will be a lot more big money, fat arsed clubs jostling for a place at the trophy buffet. Most are still going to find themselves going trophy hungry. Their fans will feel as though they are no further forward. A few clubs might end up in financial distress when owners lose interest. It happens.

To me the billionaire owner seem to buy the clubs as a status symbol like the miss World girlfriend, the flash cars, helicopters and yachts. It's not for profit as being a football owner isn't a profitable one as seen by many owners, they have no real affiliation to the clubs so what happens when/if they get bored with the club? The club is fully in the hands of someone with no affiliation or passion for the club so if they did get bored with it, they could sell everything off(stadium, training ground ect ect) to recoup some money then just basically close it down, they have that much money that in theory once the novelty wears off they could just get rid without losing any sleep over it or worrying about the fans. I'm not saying this will happen but it would always be a concern of mine if we where owned by an owner with no links to the club.
Whilst it may not be immediately obvious where the profits come from, I do believe they are doing this to generate a 'return' on their investment. Newcastle have just been bought for somewhere in the region of £300 million. If you take the Man Utd route of leveraging, then the new owners will only have put up a fraction of this and borrowed the rest. This debt will then be transferred onto the club and repayments made out of the sky / TV money. The owners will also take a dividend each year which will be much greater than they can earn from interest / stock purchases.

Saudi Arabia has two things it wants to achieve, promoting the great and powerful kingdom of Saudi Arabia and showing to its citizens and other nations how great Saudi Arabia is, as well as using it to promote lots of other Arabian businesses. See Man City and the partnership deals they have.

The good news for Newcastle fans is that they cannot risk being see as a failure so sadly the claim I have that in my lifetime Newcastle have won nowt will probably be coming to an end.

It will all end in tears. Mark my words.

That’s what they said about Man City

Will they become the most dominant club in the country? Probably not but in a few years they will be competing with big sides, or at least in a much better position than now.

Money talks. They simply have enough money to attract good players and managers, that’s all it comes down to.

She owns 10% same as David and Simon Reuben. She has been a fan since 2017 and will have a seat on the Board.
So the Saudi’s have bought 80% and in the process massively upped the value of her stake, or was her 10% effectively her commission for sorting the deal?

Always think there’s something dodgy about her and her various dealings.

I suspect by January Aramco will be announced as new commercial partners of Newcastle. Their name will be on kit, around St James' and probably even sponsor the training ground. That alone could probably see Newcastle spend £200 million on player in January.

for every Man City or Chelsea, there are ten Notts Forrests, Porstmouths, and other clubs that foreign ownership has been disastrous in the long term

In fairness. Those clubs with failed models didn't have £290 billion backing them.

You never know, there could be a plot twist and the Saudi’s could be secret Sunderland fans.

They have that much money they could buy the club for a laugh to bury them.

Just read that financial experts have said they will be able to spend close on £200m within the next 3 years to keep within FFP (if they obviously follow it!). Will £200m enable you to get close to the top half within the next 3 years, let alone the top 6?? (baring in mind they spent £40m ion Joelinton!)

This is just rubbish
You reckon? Take your rose tinted specs off and come back with a cohesive argument. We nearly get 20000 these days, to break this largely reliant on a good away following as our walk up numbers are poor.

We lose significant sums of money every season adding to the £120 million plus debt. I can’t see many plus points for anyone to buy us

The debt will be written off at some point, when HMRC tells Steve Gibson he either has to collect it or write it off.

But I agree, it's a different world now. There's no way Boro can hope to compete with Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester, Villa, West Ham and a few others. So the target now is promotion and hope to win the mini league of about 8 "just hope to stay in the league" teams.

Right now, if I was Steve Gibson, I'd be more concerned about staying in the Championship. A leaky defence and goal shy attack are hall marks of relegation teams. The fact that there are few teams facing points deductions might save Boro but without that I'd say Boro are more likely going to be in the 3rd tier next season.
