Borrow Box

Anyone use this? For those who don't know it's an app that gives you access to ebooks via your library membership. I've only found a couple of novels worth reading so far. However, you also get access to all the newspapers and loads of magazines that you can download for free. Worth a look.

Thanks for that, I will give it a look.

Not had any experience of borrow box but I have been using Libby for 4 years. It allows you access to Ebooks and audio books from the library and believe it is a government/ council scheme.
You download the app register with you library card ( if you don’t have one you order this first). It is really good and saves on costs like audible etc.

Not sure about accessing Ebola 😉
(You shouldn't have edited it, it was funny)

I started using it 2 months ago. Easy to use and great that it is free via yr council library membership. I was surprised how easy it was to set up and found my library membership with no problem.

I am mainly using it for e-audiobooks which I have never used before. I do have a (rarely used) Kindle but, I don't think that format is compatible with borrow box. I may be wrong. E-audio is fine for your smartphone, e-books not so much for me.

I moved back into mainly printed books a few years ago so this plus borrow box works well for me.

My e-audio selections have been almost all non-fiction, and the selection there is pretty good. I agree about the fiction selection, and it doesn't appeal too much to me, but I haven't tried searching the list too much.

All in all, I would really recommend it.

I use Readly app for my magazines. It has about 10,000 magazines to choose from that you see in shops and it only costs £9.99 a month. Considering if you buy a magazine in the shop it would usually set you back around £3+ per magazine Readly is great value for money.

Also has most of the national newspapers and local newspapers to read.

I used to subscribe to Readly until I discovered Pressreader, which is virtually identical but free with a library card.

I also discovered recently that you can join any library in the country, not just your local library. I joined Manchester libraries solely because it has online access to the Times digital archive.
