Boro's promotion odds awfully short

Best odds available for promotion is 3/1 i.e. 25% chance of promotion.

Some bookies have us clear third favs, despite many other teams (at least 5) having parachute payments i.e. much bigger budgets.

Our odds look too short to me - we seem to be a high profile Championship club and it shortens our odds

At this stage I would say we will be a bit better than last season but so will a number of clubs. Look at WBA signing Jed Wallace.

It's the manager and the fact we narrowly missed out on the play-offs and finished 7th under him with only 2/3rds of a season in charge.

If we had a novice in charge, we'd be much longer odds.

Not knocking Wilder but the manager at Huddersfield I thought did an excellent job and Nathan Jones at Luton. They will be tough opponents.

They did well but with the players we are expected to bring in and with what Wilder has achieved in the game. He’s comfortably the best manager in the league.

We narrowly missed out on a playoff place last season and should have a far better squad in the coming year.

Add to that, its Wilder's first proper season in charge and that we'll likely have a war chest (should we sell Spence) to buy new players and there's plenty to be optimistic about imo.

We have a style/system of play, we play to its strengths and try to negate the opposition, CW has got players in that feel like they have improved the quality of some positions. I could be wrong but as a team we feel stronger than last season, probably a lot of Boro fans feel the same and are putting money on us, that's why our odds are short, bookies will try to lessen the impact where the the money is, rather than be a source of knowledge, it doesn't mean anything that we are short odds it just bookies being bookies.

Shouldn’t be 3/1 with Coburn and Watmore our only strikers (Others on books won’t feature). Assume the bookies are expecting Wilder to get who he wants in, let’s see. I’d have us more 20/1 atm.

Some crazy things happing....

The 2nd Tier podcast say we've the best manger in the championship and raving about our signings. They usually slate us (probably the Derby thing).

I've seen enough of Wilder in 7 months and his 'style' to suggest we will be a real force. He did that with the majority of Warnocks squad and no pre season.

I genuinely think we are in with a shout of top 2 nevermind playoffs. Although I'm like this every season 😂

14-1 with Betfred to win the championship 😎 worth a daft fiver maybe before the inevitable odds shortening when the new signing’s happen 🤔

Plenty of Boro lumping money on it has done that.

20/1 for what? To be promoted?

Surely the bookies can only give our odds on our current squad, how can they say 3/1 because we ‘could bring some good strikers in’

They do it with the fa cup games. Or used to anyway. For example a team like Chelsea would be 1/10 against say Ipswich but would field a very weakened side with a couple of young lads in there. The odds should be reflected on the starting 11 rather than the squad in fixtures.

Unless they have changed it and do now?

They have obviously assumed a number of better quality strikers (than Sporar, Balougun, Connelly) are coming and another keeper I would guess.
