Boro striker setback...

The article just says he may have offers from abroad - big news, what a shocker!

As for Britt and Fletcher - both are gash. Britt doesnt want to be here and hasnt all season, fletcher is struggling with the harsh reality that a non scoring regularly injured striker may not command the worlds highest wages when his contract is up for renewal.

its no gamble at all letting both go, the gamble would be the long odds of seeing any return from either of them

We were linked with both Cosgrove and Dykes, most Boro fans would have been happy to sign either of these the replace Britt at the time.......both flopped !

I think the article highlights that we are in a competitive market for players.
Plenty on here just say 'get rid he's rubbish' when the reality is that we are a mid table Championship side with no money, we ain't an attractive destination for players. It's going to be extremely difficult to improve on the likes of Britt and Fletch both proven at this level...I just hope we can, but it's a massive gamble IMO.

Like I say I don't feel its the club gambling, they're out of contract and don't seem to want to stay. They both have contracts that were paid for when we come down with a stack of cash, we haven't got that anymore and can't afford their contracts. What would you have the club do, just go ah actually don't worry lads have another 4 year contract on the same money.

They obviously agree with you, which is why they've offered Fletch a contract - You can't force the lad to sign it though.

Fair enough you can't, but the negativity and vibes the players get must affect their decision....if this board is anything to go by, all they must read is 'get shot he's rubbish'. I think I would be off...

Lyndon Dykes? The guy who has scored 10 for QPR so far? The guy who has scored double the goals Britt has this season? If he's a flop what does that make Britt and Fletch?

Any signing is a gamble by doing due diligence you mitigate part of that risk, especially at our level, where players on our radar will have weaknesses to areas of their game. For me you have a blueprint of the players you want and the skill set that you value, and prioritise accordingly, I would have a system of player and concentrate on personnel that fit that pattern, no point bringing in square pegs if you're playing round hole football. If we going direct then wingers who offer quick delivery and strikers with a physical presence make more sense than neat tidy ball playing number 10's. I think at times over complication causes inertia when it comes to recruitment and patterns of play.

What happened with Akpom ? His movement is poor, he doesn't gamble in the box....

My big issue with Brit is not his lack of goals per se it’s more the lack of anything else as with his goals he offers nothing.

he never lays it off for a team mate never looks up for a player in a better position never provides the killer pass never really creates anything of note.

No he runs head down and shoots be that at the goal near the goal or over the goal time and time again he’s going u kick it it as hard as he can towards the goal region regardless of how good his or his team mates positioning is.

We just need rid of
Britt - and Fletcher - should not be involved again
I'm still unhappy they got a run out on Saturday

Dykes has scored 4 in 4. So he had 6 before this spell.

That said he cost roughly 2mil and I'd rather have him than our 25mil trio. I see he can head a ball so that would be an improvement 👏
