Coburn not starting - Played 10 lost 8 drawn 1 won 1 points gained 4.
Coburn starting - Played 10 won 7 drawn 2 lost 1 points gained 23.
Now some will say that may be coincidence or there are lots of other factors at play (which no doubt to some extent there are) but there’s no getting away from the statistics - we are far more likely to win AND avoid defeat when he starts, there is no getting away from that fact.

Surely it can’t be as this simple as that.

Did the defence have better performances when Coburn started, meaning a win was more likely?

Did those around him click better, meaning we created/scored more, meaning the win was more likely?

Thought Coburn was excellent when he first came in for Lath this season, but his performances did dip after that. If we’re turning to Coburn to drag us out of our current situation then that’s a worry.

I don’t think it dipped that much to warrant being dropped - if he’s carrying a hernia injury then that is a more likely reason for him not starting. One thing you can guarantee from Josh is the ball will stick when he’s up front. All i saw today was the ball pinging back off Lath as his first touch is just awful - that’s just not good enough for a centre forward

Agree on Lath, but just because Lath is poor it doesn’t mean Coburn is the answer either (at the minute).

Well it’s either Coburn or Lath who up front - those are the only options that seem viable in terms of an actual striker that i can see. If Josh is carrying an injury then we’re screwed, at least till the January window because Laths all round game just isn’t good enough to be a starter for us - poor control and a pretty poor finisher.

It's not just the hold up play. In fact I'd say he's got a bit to do on improving that, yes it sticks but the bit after, the link up stuff, needs work.

It's probably as much that he properly occupies the centre halves giving the 3 in behind a bit more room to operate in, which means they tend to hold onto it better too.

There was zero link up between Lath and our other creative outlets yesterday. Obviously we are missing key players like Hackney McGree and Forss and that situation will improve eventually, but there needs to be a centre forward up there who can hold that ball up and bring others into play, and i really don’t think Latte Lath can do that. We definitely need another forward in January along with a right back. I see we’re being linked with centre halves which was a bit puzzling for me, unless McNair is going in January
