Big turn over of players this season at all levels
10 youth players released today
Ayala and Gestede gone , with Pears , Clayton , Shotton , Johnson , Friend possibly going . 3 loans go back . That's 20 players.
Britt , Fletcher out of contract in a year so may be sold soon .
Interest in Tav and Wing from Brighton and Southampton
Some work to do in the coming weeks to replace that lot .

Pears, I would be surprised if we let him go

El Guapo , maybe Woody IS doing it . It has been said we have not sacked him so maybe he is helping the recruitment team in some capacity . He could be the figure head to attract players i.e. Famous player , former Liverpool scout . Ticks a few boxes .

He does not have the same pulling power that Bryan Robson had.

He is a well known player / Coach , who played for Real Madrid , NUFC , Spurs , Boro , Leeds , and Stoke
That will be some influence in attracting players I believe . Only guessing mind , but could happen given the amount of players needed and short time scale .

And by the way Players don’t sign for clubs because of a scout 🤣. It’s the scouts role to identify players for the club to sign and then the convincing comes from the owner, executives and manager. So even if Woodgate was our scout ( he isn’t thank ****) players wouldn’t be signing because Jonathan Woodgate is the one who liked them.

There is a lot to do and thankfully not by Woodgate.
I'm excited at the thought of a lot of player turnover; it has taken a long time to move on Monk's mistakes.
We are where we are because our squad is not very good, not just because our manager was hopeless.

Not sure there have been too many youth players we've released directly from the academy that have went on to play at a higher level than us successfully

Off the top of my head, there is:

Jonathan Hogg, for a few seasons in recent years.

Arguably Bailey Peacock-Farrell but he's not actually playing for Burnley, just bench warming.

Cameron Jerome too.

No way would a player sign because Woodgate tried to recruite them.

Just like no player signed because of Bryan Robson, they signed for ££ but could hardly say 'never heard of Middlesbrough but the contract was 4 times what i was being offered by x', back then we could blow other teams out of the water financially. Looking back we should have done more with it; for instance look at Blackburn winning the title.
