Boro Players on Loan

We have some gifted players out on loan to clubs this season.
Not sure if this has been done before but I've just spent last few minutes having a look online at recent reports on their progress.
Thought I'd share my findings.

This isn't a dig at anybody by the way;)

Lewis Wing vs Ipswich
Lewis Wing 8 (star man)
Fully justified his recall with a superb showing. Pulled the strings in the centre and worked tirelessly out of possession. A classy display from the Middlesbrough loanee.

Recall? Perhaps his form still up/down still but good to see him performing well last match

Coulson not in Ipswich squad - think injured
BTW Morsy hasn't played for Ipswich yet due to his red card with us. Makes his debut tomorrow night.

Nathan Wood

Not in squad in latest match vs Livingstone.
Have seen him on the bench - has he played yet?

Djed SPENCE: Linked up well with Lolley on the right wing to create attacking chances and opportunities. Enjoyed overlapping down that side and was a useful outlet. Named man of the match by the sponsors. 7/10

It feels good that these players will still be under contract when their loan spell ends.
Whether you think we should or shouldn't have loaned them out is a different matter.

PS Watched Cutis Main come on as sub for St Mirren vs Aberdeen on Sunday

Ste Walker, Tranmere, not played yet?

Akpom
The attacker played a vital role to ensure his team collected maximum points to go second in Group F
Chuba Akpom inspired PAOK Thessaloniki to a 2-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa Conference League match played at Victoria Stadium on Thursday.

ADRIAN Bevington has joined League Two Hartlepool United as a non-executive director of the club.

I defended Spence on here against I would say the majority by this August who did not want him at the Club. There is something there ability wise to play at Premier League standard, but its rarely come out in a fully consistent way. Saying bringing in Hernandez for him, to me is probably a good move at present when H is fit!

Don't we have a keeper on loan who has kept 6 out of 7 clean sheets @ Kilmarnock?

Rumarn Burrell is also at Kilmarnock but unfortunately got injured.
Think Ste Walker has made a sub appearance in the Papa John's but unless he's injured it's concerning he's not really involved.
Hayden Hackney is at Scunthorpe as well and has made a few appearances.

Hoping we can get some of the other u23s out to some National League sides soon.

It is really surprising that Nathon Wood and Steve Walker havent told the club "play me or Im off"!!!
Stephen has had 5 different loan spells since 2019.
Nathon goes from strength-to-strength whilst out on loan and all the while we get bulship about players not being "ready".
We had Tyrone O`Neil who was given a contract and was shoved out the door less than two years later. Hes playing at Scunthorpe.
Meanwhile we have a 5M pound player whose spent more time in warm-up than game time on the pitch.
?

How do you go from strength to strength on loan when you are not getting a game?
Give your head a shake man.
For this reason:

"Give your head a shake", otherwise you look foolish- hes clearly good enough to Captain England`s Under-20s.

Nathan Wood wore the armband for England’s Under-20s as they drew 1-1 with Italy in Chesterfield on Thursday evening

Wood started at centre half for Andy Edwards’ side and enjoyed a full 90 minutes in the Three Lions shirt.
Daniel Maldini opened the scoring for the Azzuri, with Lewis Bate netting the equaliser before the break.
The Young Lions now travel to Czech Republic, who they face on Monday.

Was he injured?
He simply isn’t good enough. Classic case of a successful boy footballer failing to make the grade in the men’s game. Will be released I have no doubt.

Loans have demonstrated he can’t cut it - sadly he has little chance of making a go at a career.

tbf he did alright on loan initially at Crewe and MK Dons but something has gone wrong somwehere. he's gone from starting games for us under Woodgate, to being on loan in L1 to not even making the bench in L2.

Real shame, as he has loads of talent. Might well have to drop down to National League and work his way back.

He scored for Tranmere the other night. Tranmere are 5th in the league and have two cup competitions on the go, along with another 35 league games. There’s plenty of time for him to play. The same goes for Wood at Hibs.

A quick note on Walker - he’s still only 20, just about to turn 21. He had a good loan spell and one that was ruined because of the pandemic. The initial spell out will have been good for him as a person, not just a footballer. Living away from home and learning how to live independently. I think sometimes people forget that that side of a loan deal can be just as important as the football. When managers and coaches talk of players going away as boys and coming back as men, that’s part of what they mean. That they’ve developed as people. I saw a photo of Walker the other day after he’d scored and he looked like he’d grown up quite a lot in terms of size and shape. There is plenty of time and scope for him to progress. Let’s see how he goes.

I agree there is still time, but realistically he's only getting time atm for Tranmere in the EFL Trophy, and can't make the bench in the league.
I do wonder if he had some injury issues pre-season and if so it may be him getting back to match fitness, so fingers crossed.
