Boro odd bods

Here is a completely dull Abel Xavier fact, I sat directly next to him and his two kids at our UEFA Cup final. He seemed almost as upset as I was by the result and he gave me a hug at the end of the game (as I was so miserable with the scoreline).

If memory serves me right, did he miss the final due to a failed dope test which he maintained his innocence over?

Yes I think that he went all the way to the court of arbitration about it. I think it was something found which at the time was readily available in sport supplement drinks.
