Boro No.1 For

Dont mind that. teams you would expect to be top half come May. Playing them this early isn't a bad thing, they wont have settled either

Surely this changes though as games are played, Millwall or Norwich lose the opener and these become easier? Conversely say Oxford win then a game against them becomes harder?

Calm down , its theoretical. Nobody can predict which teams come out of the blocks well. Comes down to player attitude really and if they fancy going full pelt form the off which most don't. However a good win on opening day will give a natural sense of wanting to do that again for the next match. We are always a slow burner . May take us the usual 7 or 8 games to get fully in the swing of it .

Our mindset will hopefully be more positive. It’s an opportunity to test ourselves early, pick up some points and show intent.
I honestly despair at the way some talk on here, I wouldn’t fancy being in the trenches with them. Utter f@nnys.
UTB!!! Erimus.

Can you talk your way out of the trenches?

But do well in those first few matches and we will be hugely optimistic. And what appears tough before the season starts rarely looks that way come the end of the season.
Swansea, Millwall and Norwich could be complete duds this season other than Coburn ( wish we still had him) what do we really know about their signings / squads.

Gets them out the way early. Probably exactly what we need given our record of having a slow start to the last few seasons....
This used to be my line of thinking, but you've also sort of explained why.

I had a change of heart after watching most on here go wild when we had a bad run last year (and the year before) against the good sides. The same people don't give back praise when we make them points back against the worse sides.

Our fans (probably any clubs fans to be honest) can't hack reality that you get less points against good sides, same as when you have a load of injuries etc. This just leads to additional undue pressure I think.

Another point is we're not going to thoroughly realise who the good sides are (apart from the obvious), until maybe 1/2 of the way through the season.

I'm not too bothered what most fans think, especially on here - I can't see us having a good start this year, but I do think we'll grow into the season and be contenders.
I'd rather have our transitioning period getting beat by the better teams than have to play them later in the season.

True, but I think it's a safe bet to say our first four... Swansea, Millwall, Norwich and Sheff Utd will be in the top 10 this season - and at least 3 out of 4 (don't know which) will be fighting for play-offs.

Other teams will be up in the air a bit too, so their fans probably think the same.

But yeah, losing to the better teams during transition will waste less points, but it also gives more up to supposed rivals, which is important.

I reckon 2/4 of those won't make top 10, and 2/4 were not even in the top 10 last year and were below us.

Wouldn't be surprised if only Sheff Utd were top 10, but wouldn't even be surprised if they never made it either. I'm not the most up to speed on every clubs players but they've lost Ahemedhodzic, Souza, Moore, Brereton Diaz, Glichrist, Rak-Sakyi, Choudry, Souttar etc. That's a lot of big players out the door and they've not brought much in (yet). Most of those would get in our side I think?

Norwich have lost Rowe, Sainz and probably losing Sargeant too. They've brought a few in too mind, but who knows if they're going to work out.

Milwall over achieved last year, if they're playing Coburn up top they will struggle for top 10. They lost Flemming too, as well as a few others who played quite a few games.

Swansea don't appear to have done anything significant in/ out.

I have had £20 on Millwall getting top 6 😂 really good manager and made some good signings - Doughty especially.
