He's been pretty woeful at Derby.Martyn Waghorn... Possibly?
So did Fletcher didn't he, do you hope we persuade him to stay?We are clearly after a targetman.
Yet its a amusing that Bristol City fans say Diedhou's isn't good in the air and Sunderland fans say Wyke is woeful at holding the ball up.
Yet both have turned down new contracts. Funny that
or even THREE better, because we need 3 CFs so if he isn't good enough to be even the third choice, who are the better 3?For those turning their nose up at this signing, can you name a better and more importantly realistic free transfer
Waghorn is terrible at CF, much more of a wide forward like Watmore, but not as good, and totally injury prone due to being overweightMartyn Waghorn... Possibly?
I reckon that once you get past the top couple of strikers, the wages will drop dramatically, players will need to realise that if they are out of contract they will be on the scrapheap pretty quicklyPersonally I dont think we will sign him simply because of wages
Waghorn is terrible full stop.Waghorn is terrible at CF, much more of a wide forward like Watmore, but not as good, and totally injury prone due to being overweight
yes - the offers in the champo just wont be there so they will have to accept whats on offer of go abroad if they canI reckon that once you get past the top couple of strikers, the wages will drop dramatically, players will need to realise that if they are out of contract they will be on the scrapheap pretty quickly
If it happens it will be at the end of the window, assuming he doesn't get a better offer elsewhere.Warnock recently made some comments about players still wanting stupidly high wages - sounded like it was a player he himself had been talking to or enquiring after - wonder if it was Diedhiou? His offer from Bristol was from last year so would have been similar or above what he's currently on.
Personally I dont think we will sign him simply because of wages
I think it's more a case of him having such a similar record as Britt - who was slated on here, and actually hated by someFor those turning their nose up at this signing, can you name a better and more importantly realistic free transfer
I've got no issue with us signing Diedhiou based on us pre-February performances, but I do think it's right to be concerned that he's basically done the exact same thing as Assombalonga since the transfer window shut.
Britt was slated not for his goalscoring, but for the fact that's all he had. He couldn't hold the ball up, couldn't create for himself or others, couldn't bully defenders, couldn't close down defenders. He offered absolutely nothing else but a 1 goal in 3 games. He came alive for 10 seconds every 270 mins.I think it's more a case of him having such a similar record as Britt - who was slated on here, and actually hated by some
I'd accept a 12-15 goal striker, who bullied defenders and held the ball up, that would be a huge step up from where we areProblem is we want a striker who scores lots of goals but doesnt cost much and they just dont exist!
Then that type of player should create opportunity for others around himI'd accept a 12-15 goal striker, who bullied defenders and held the ball up, that would be a huge step up from where we are
I'm not disagreeing with that, though Britt was slated for his scoring - which was certainly justified for this seasonBritt was slated not for his goalscoring, but for the fact that's all he had. Diedhiou is much more physical, much better at dribbling, much more of a bully. People know they've been in a game against him. Britt? some CBs are smoking a cigar and getting the deck chairs out against hi,, it's an easy afternoon.
exactly. You only get about 3 players a season who are 20 goals a season and usually at least one promoted team did not have a 20 goal striker. The best teams share the goals around and have strikers who can create and hold the ball up so that midfield can get up the pitch and join in.Then that type of player should create opportunity for others around him
