I am going to look back through the fanzines I have knocking around my house and pull out a few and write a little about them and about the match they were published for.
So, I looked in my bookcase and there was a copy of Issue 57 - this happens to be the first match under Lennie Lawrence a season opener in one of the final campaigns at Ayresome Park - Sat August 2nd 1991 - Lennie v Bruce Rioch's Millwall - if ever there was going to be a fixture that heralded in the dawning of a new era.issue 57.jpg
Summer of Inactivity - Ayresome Dayz #LennieLawrence the Silence of Keith Lamb & has Bernie Bolted? #UTB ISSUE 57

The photograph of Mustoe,'s goal was on the cover of the next fanziine I believe with an almost empty seated chicken run in the background with the caption of 'Who can afford these seats' or similar in response to the club hiking the priced for that season.

Thanks Rob, enjoyed that and brought back some memories.
My brother in law used to print it in the dark old days, he had the printing shop in the Brentnall buildings.

Nice link above to the next issue. Really interesting.
NZBoro - that is interesting - yes Issue 57 was printed by Adroit - they were at Borough Road at that point, not far from Jack Hatfields on the same side of the road. Tony and Russ had been in Brentnall Centre before that, ironically just down the corridor from where my office has been since 1994. I used to work for/with them when they were in the centre.

Missed this game as I was at Gateshead stadium for the worst concert I ever attended. Roachford?, OMD, Stranglers (lead singer gloating about the hotbead of football having no top flight teams) and Simple Minds. Also it absolutely bucketed it down during Stranglers. Only bright spot was the pa reading out the results with a Boro win. Must admit I have the date as 17th August though.

Russ was responsible for one of the greatest cartoon images in fmttm.
Manager in dug out. Speech bubble from crowd.
"DON'T JUST SIT THERE.. MANAGE!"
