Boro close in on Ben Gibson

Come on man, how could he have been "very average" playing in a defence with stats like this?View attachment 5416
The defence started from the front with Karanka. The back “4” had a lot of protection. We were the lowest scorers in the top six. Burnley and Hull only conceded four more goals than us.
I loved the team and Karanka but I wasn’t always convinced Gibson in the Championship.
He stepped up in the Premier League, it pleasantly surprised me but I won’t be expecting that level of player to return, if he indeed does.

He was probably the player that looked most at ease in the PL and whilst he had the benefit of playing in a team that was set up to avoid conceding, he still looked the part (hence a club renowned for modest transfers risked £15m to sign him).

I'm not privy to the ins and outs of how the transfer would be represented in the clubs accounts, but clearly there must be a FFP advantage to Burnley writing off the last of the transfer fee they owe? Otherwise I cant see the club committing to around £4m in transfer fees on one player, especially given the current climate and the need for us to work within a tight budget.

I hope it happens because he's a high quality defender and also a big voice too, both on and off the pitch.

Hopesboro stirs
His blackened teeth revealed by his smile as he sees an FMTTM target
Removing his hands from his crusted stained underpants he taps his keyboard.
‘Another wonderful one liner’ he says as his hands return to the comfort of his underpants, now moving faster in celebration He climaxes and relaxes.
’was that a good one dad’ his son says - ’can I taste it’?
‘Only if you don’t tell your mam son - crack on’
Bad day at the Co-op?

Obviously i don't know.... but i would expect Steve Gibson to be fuming about what has happened to Ben - it was meant to be a career "progression" and looked what happened.... We don't know the "ins and outs" - but Ben has barely made the bench under big Sean.... Ben's not that bad

Then people go on about Sean Dyche and the Chesterfield semi final and all that stuff... i doubt that has played into anything, but yeah

I would probably imagine that Ben and his Uncle Steve have gotten together at a family wedding / christening / funeral with a beer and talked about the amount Ben would like to earn if he were to leave Burnley .. completely unofficial of course .. just a bloke and his uncle having a chat before the Birdie Song comes on the disco .. and I'd imagine what Ben said would allow this story to get legs .. if it was too much, I'd doubt it would even be rumour .. so I guess it comes down to what Burnely want ..

I don’t see uncle Steve giving young Ben a better deal than anybody else due to family ties. It would stink the place out. That being said, I think Benny boy would probably chomp at coming back on lesser money just to be a footballer again.

That's the point - young Ben might have just casually mentioned to his uncle that he's had Burnleys eyes out, he's worth a mint now and so would happy to move to another club, one close to his heart, on a much lower wage just to get playing again with a view to earning more if he and his new club were a success.

I wonder about that. It's either like that or they are old school and keep business away from the family to stop any issues.

It’s sadly timed out now but Dani Ayalas wife (han_handesigns on Instagram) latest and most frequent stories keep showing Dani at a training facility with Ben Gibson always in background of photos and Kieffer Moore was also present wherever they where, in a fantasy world where we he is resigned, could Ben Gibson’s first act as captain be to persuade Dani to (apologise and) reform their dream team partnership at the back with Grant Hall in a back 3 and Kieffer to come join the party 🧐

I think Gibbo and Dani both share a PT/physio who works with a number of other pros. One can dream though, eh!

When Neil said in his media conference today: "sometimes you might swap players".......I wondered if that was a hint - maybe the Fry for Gibson scenario (?).
He also mentioned "keeping an eye" on "one or two" players in league one (?)
Theres the lad who played at Blackpool last season who scored 15 goals - hes been linked to us. I wonder?
Neil said he gives players 24 hours "to make theirt minds up" - he wants them to want to play for the Boro - otherwise he wont entertain them.
I reckon we will see a tide of deals over the next week(y)

Yeah that’s the one I’ve seen, can’t remember the name but lots of photos of Ben and Dani working out together every day or so. Might actually have even been Lyle Taylor but even so:-

Swap Dael Fry in some kind of Gibson deal

(Possibly just Re-sign Ayala)

Bring in the striker there with them

Start a whole new day the next day! I trust Neil is working his socks off here to bring in the best squad for value with afew more crackers and afew just hard solid pros ready to graft for him and the shirt! Good Times UTB
