We may escape, but probably not this season

Newcastle look down - but obviously January can change that

Sunderland in the playoff positions in League 1

i still think the most likely is that all 3 will stay put.
Newcastle are in a tricky situation but they're still in a situation where theyre only 2 wins away from safety with a load of money to spend. If they approach it sensibly with some shrewd signings and experience they'll be fine. If they try to spend a fortune on one or two players then they'll probably go down.

We are a long shot for promotion but we can very much get in the play off lottery if we have a decent transfer window for a change

I keep seeing this 2 wins from safety quote.

They're rock bottom of the league.

Does this two wins from safety rules also apply to the 3 teams above them?

Personally I think it'll be

Newcastle - Championship
Us - Championship
Sunderland - League 1

Don't know how Newcastle get out the mess they're in.

They desperately need to start defending and keeping it tight at the back, and that's something Howe has never ever done wherever he's been.

you know what's meant by it. They've got an obvious advantage in january over the teams above them. Of course if they slip further behind prior to january then it may not be enough to buy their way out of it

Approach it sensibly!!! This is NUFC haha

practically speaking, it would be better to have NUFC - Prem, LUFC - Prem, SAFC - Div 1 But emotionally how good would it to be to have all of those Derbies?

Newcastle need to win 10-11 stays to stay up. Currently on a zero percent win ratio. All the big hitters to play as well.

When Newcastle finished 5th under pardew the win ratio was under 47percent

We have dominated all the matches since Wilder came in so with plenty of the season to go I think we might nab a play off spot.

I think Sunderland have maybe had enough embarrasment now so wouldn't mind them back in the championship.

I am not sure I can see 2 teams worse than Newcastle, which as what they need to find in order to stay up, I think Norwich are gonners but who are the other 2? Brentford might crash at Christmas I suppose but who is the other one?

Watford aren't great, albeit still better than Newcastle at the minute.

Can see a few journeymen looking for one last payday biting off the Geordies hands, but apart from the young lad up front they've got no real quality through their squad. Let's be honest too, no one does false dawn's like they do! Relegation still written all over them, just better odds now!
