Boro 4 Bolton 0. October 1969. Black and white archive footage. Hickton + Mcllmoyle goals.[2:10].

Great strike partnership. Hickton was so much quicker in reactions and speed off the mark. McIlmoyle so dominant in the air.

Some very good goals there. McIlmoyle just hangs in the air and there is so much power behind his headers.
Now then- the Hickton penalty has got me baffled and if anyone can solve my confusion I would be grateful. I was always under the impression that Big John only ever missed one penalty. I was at the game at Ayresome when that happened but for the life of me I cannot remember the opponents. I was in the Holgate at pitch level right behind the goal and saw the ball whizz past the keepers left hand post. Or have I got this mixed up with another player.

I was at the Bolton match and remember Hurley coming out after a iconic time at the Mackems.... then Big John robbed him on the half way line.... ooo how we laughed, McIlmoyle was the best header I have seen at Boro, never settled on Teeside unfortunatly and was off after a couple of seasons...
