I'd have thought a tandem would make more sense with four legs.
He's very independent and farts a lot, as do I. So the tandem was ruled out......

It might be a "fixi" - with a single cog on the rear which engages when pedaled backwards? That bike is illegal. It's an offence to ride a bicycle on a public road without two efficient braking systems, operating independently on the front and rear wheel.
Still illegal from 2017 . . . I believe . . .It might be a "fixi" - with a single cog on the rear which engages when pedaled backwards?

A scotch egg was a substantial meal as was a plate of chips as places menus had to be approved to open and you're right you will have people who will push the boundaries and or totally ignore the guidelines but that doesn't mean that where possible a lot of the ambiguity.
A simple instruction that exercise must start and end at home or a person's place of work is clear and leaves no room for interpretation, or if they define local as within a 10 minute drive of the above. The fact they have allowed people to fish further muddies the water of

I`ve never used Zwift or other online facilities.
Do I need a heart-rate monitor and other tech?
The "tacx focus s" has built in sensor and software. The Garmin allows me to use GPS out on the road and indoors it has "indoor" and "training" options, including resistance settings etc.
I usually choose one of the online training videos - yesterday it was a 2 hour enduro ride - and have established benchmarks [eg min 24 km over an hour intervals].
Any thoughts?
When I started indoor in March / April - with lock down an that - I`ve completed approximately 7000 km since then.I've got the Flux and I use it with a HR monitor and Zwift.
I'd think if you are using their videos and training to power you won't have to worry about HR too much. TBH Roofie, as long as you are enjoying it that's the main thing. Gains to fitness and losses to weight will come!
