I think I'll stick with the good old ethanol based drinks rather than Alcarel based ones.

At least you know where you are with ethanol, or at least know that you don't know where you are, or why you have no top on anymore.

I'm sure "Star Trek" did encounter mind altering fauna, flora and planets but they also drank their own 'synthehol' which, if you needed to be sober, simply stopped having an effect when you needed it to. I'm sure I had similar experiences with beer in my drinking years... "Yeah, I've had a couple of pints, but I'm definitely not drunk, watch me go up that ladder."

I can drink like a fish in Benidorm for 7 days solid and never get a hangover.
On the flip side, 5 pints of Sammysmiths in the Cooper will have me shytting and puking like a Catherine wheel!

My conclusion after studying the subject for decades is that alcohol's not that bad, it's the chemicals and preservatives that do you in. Try a gallon of craft brewery 'natural, no additives, pure etc' beer and you head comes off the pillow in the morning surprisingly easily even if it's the wrong pillow. Compare the same with a cheap mass-produced factory beer and you'll have the morning drills going into the temples as usual...
