Bootham crescent tribute

I always felt it was like a mini Ayresome Park, not meaning that in a patronising way.
I took part in Fans United Save York City march shown on the video as a Boro fan rep. It was a home from home. No doubt about that. And as a visitor from a higher league it is everything we would want - of course attracting new fans within York itself can mean different priorities, a different outlook to the once a season visitor. But sad to see it going.
My friend Jason Wood is working on a memories archive there and also hoping to retain a couple of original features on site, so people can go to the new housing estate and still be able to to see a couple of reminders of the old stadium and the old football ways.

I was a student in York 90’s loved going to Bootham crescent fine old ground & York is a wonderful place to live as well. Hopefully their new home will bring them success on the pitch and they can get back one day soon into the football league.

I was also a student there in the 90s - I agree re a place to live.

I worked in York for 6 months in the eighties for York Archaeological Trust and it was fantastic living there - especially as we had a free pass to Jorvik and could nip down after work and then as York residents we could go and visit other attractions too. But just being surrounded by all that history was brilliant I thought.

I agree , I loved the walls when I was a kid. Shame that they knocked so much down in the past, but I suppose that's still happening now, like the signal box.
York then had b industry of course and that's why my brother moved down there. Now....

Me & my mate got the train to York cycled to the ground a couple of years ago & cycled home
It was the 1st away ground I visited for a friendly match, which we lost 2-1, went again NYD we lost 3-1

My first York archaeology job was to dig beneath the walls to assess the foundations. It was January and I had to pickaxe through snow and ice and loads of mud to find the wall foundations were precariously sitting in sand and there weren't many foundation stones either.

Shocking that they've lasted so long, don't make them like they used to..

This is great. Notice how at times Keith Macklin is quite happy to let the pictures speak for themselves and we don't have to listen to the endless whitterings of a 'summariser'.
