Bloody Bausor.......

I think he deserves it as it’s clear our strategy and our market has changed

coincidence ???
Maybe. But wasn't Bausor running it when we went up under Aitor? Or was that Gary Gill? Or did Gill only do the windows up until we were good and then take a sabbatical until we were sh*t?

The truth is nobody really knows who does what. It's been posted a lot but it's probably a collaborative effort. Perhaps the new bloke had an input but I'd be inclined to say he didn't. If he's still working for Norwich then is it ethical to be sharing information he gained while employed by them with another club? I remember Mowbray talking about that years ago, when he took our job after Celtic. He didn't bring the details/scouting reports/database with him because he felt it was Celtic's, not his, as he was a Celtic employee. He might've had some bits in his head, obviously, he is only human, but I think it is dangerous to assume the Norwich man has been pulling the strings for Boro.

Is Gary Gill still here by the way?

That’s true but I do think there has been a shift for the better in out long term vision away from he did well against us mantra we’ve had in the past.
I don't disagree, I find it exciting to see us finally going back out into the world after a few years of sticking to the English market. The signing from Rennes is intriguing - I'd love to see us have a really powerful presence in the middle of the field, someone who get about the park, pass it AND tackle with their whole body instead of someone who either sits in one spot or plays off the front. We could do with a really good No8.

I think when the club are doing so many deals, from loads of different markets, it's the whole staff who deserve the credit - from Warnock to the CE to Gibson to the secretarial staff. It's a massive job.

You can't help but think that the sudden up take of players from abroad must be down to Scott? Or at least an input.

We've not looked abroad in years. That or its simply far better value than the impossible task of loaning prem players due to wages and game percentage clauses.

It's frustrating that it took us so long but at least we are finally here. I just hope that it doesn't get chucked out at the first sign of trouble like things have in the past.

My guess would be that he has had an involvement but cleared with Norwich.

For instance all he has to do is ask his employer is 'can I recommend players to Middlesbrough if Norwich aren't interested in them'.

I don't really think there's much of a change in strategy. We have mainly bought domestic players because of covid. In woodgates season we got the big lad in defence and stojwatchamacalkit from Europe. Pulis wanted big heffers and why would you shop for big heffers in little short arses running around land when you live in big hefferland. It would be like taking coals to Newcastle. Monk got the snake in from Denmark. Karanka shopped mainly in Spain but stuck his toe in the South American market. Mowbray looked all over for his second hand bargains.

Apparently he left a few years ago. Prior to Victor Orta and all of that sort of business. But his name does still pop up on threads discussing Boro's latest poor signing.
Post Orta

Does a great job of importing wine, cheese and clothes too apparently.

I get the sense a lot of people think that buying/loaning players these days is as simple as buying a house - seems to be increasingly complex with more fingers in the pie and obv' instant global communication which can throw a spanner in the works as we saw last week with the Dutch kid.
