Bloke on Tees: Howson for Captain? I agree.

Hes grown in stature since Neil arrived and I agree with the bloke on the radio - Howson "screams Captain" every game.
Hes in there, works himself into the ground and for me is the best man in the team to wear the armband(y)

Good point.
Howson gets the nod for me.
I still think he looks like the bass player in a 1970s rock band with that haircut :)UTMB!

Warnock only gave Britt the captaincy in the hope it would inspire him and he'd start to take more responsibility. It hasn't worked however. He's not captain material.
He's not striker material either unfortunately.
Best pass of the match today from Howson, which "Britt" trapped as far as he needed to shoot it.

Overall, a touch unlucky today not to have won 1-0. I think we would have if the ref doesn't have a mindfūck.
The back 4 are very good together, very good indeed; and the keeper is sound.
Howson and Saville both played well too.
We have weakness in the front 4 positions. Akpom is more mobile and holds the ball up better than Assombolonga; he should play.

Roberts looked poor when he came on, but should have had longer.
Tav had a bad match - penalty aside. He created very very little.
Spence, Coulson and Johnson are simply not creating enough from decent possession in decent positions.
And what little we do create lands with players who simply haven't the capability to convert chances

I can understand why Warnock likes to have the 3 midfielders who work hard in there, but for me one of them needs to be sacrificed at home for Roberts, who can provide us with that creative spark.

Howson is a good shout, but my wildcard would be Saville.
He seems a totally different player under Neil Warnock and he has that bit of an edge about him.

Its a positive sign that players are coming to the fore and being more vocal and supportive of others in play. It appears that Neil and his team have awoken latent, and hereto unearthed talents, of leadership. What last year appeared to be a generally deflated and group of passive players, appear to be jostling for position as "front men" when it comes to taking the helm.
This Manager and his team are doing more than building a decent team - they are using psychology and man-management skills which will help the lads now and in the future.
I`m glad, Neil, Sandy and his bike - are currently signed to Middlesbrough FC.
Hes a diamond (y) :)

Whoever it is the decision to make Britt Captain should be reversed, he’s not even starting for goodness sake. He has very few if any of the qualities that you would associate with a captain neither has he embraced the challenge of being given the role. Doesn’t do enough to justify his place in the team let alone the captaincy.

I'm not sure captain means much these days. They shake hands and pass a pendent at kick off.

It's more about genuine 'leaders' and you need 3-4. I heard Morsy is a proper leader in training and on match day. I'm not saying he should be skipper but Howson is pretty quiet.

Howson is much more out of his shell now.
You can see him pointing to where he wants the ball and leading by example - marking out key players and intercepting the ball st key moments.
We`l see, but for me hes a natural for the role.
Leaders are made out of circumstance not born.
