Bilateral deal with France

Macron and Johnson agreed Quarantine measures will not apply to people coming from France and vice versa.

So I'll jut pop up to Perpignan and fly in from there then ;)

Edit - and as there are no border controls between France and any EU country, that's what anybody in Europe can do - Paris CDG and Orly are going to be busy !

Utter farce

Surprised there's any flightse!

Would imagine this is something to do with transport. Every truck driver needing to go into quarantine is just not possible.

Don’t some EU countries close the borders. If France close the borders to the UK how would the Irish HGVs get through.

The EU have agreed that there will be open borders between individual countries - of course this could change, but I think it unlikely if infection rates are being controlled.

I'm sure the HGV "problem" is why the quarantine won't apply to France, but shows how farcical and arbitrary the proposed quarantine is - have HGV drivers got some magical immunity to the virus ?

So you won't be getting a flight in then.

Easyjet (as an example) are taking bookings from Malaga to Paris from 1st June, and then on to London. At the moment I'm working from home, but would certainly use this route if I had to

It was a soundbite, nothing more nothing less. He's good at the grand gestures but when you examine the detail you realise he is talking schite.

Ferry companies taking bookings from 3rd June
We are booked July

France is out of lock down as of today. Decisions about reopening bars, restaurants and various other tourist type venues will be taken in June, depending of course on the danger of a 2nd wave. Paris and the North East are in the Red zone, so different travel restrictions apply. The rest of the country is a Green zone. There are, at the moment travel restrictions, even without permits on distance of travel even within your own department. (radius as the crow flies 100 klm. A journey into another department of more than 50 kilometres requires a new type of permit... later it gets complicated 😉
If infection numbers increase lockdown will be reimposed.
So it's possible that they could be back in lockdown in July.

Absolutely Richy - by restricting it to France and not recognising (or if he has, ignoring) the fact that any EU national can travel freely into France and therefore onto the UK, he's just made himself look naive as well as thick. My 13 year old daughter spotted that work round within 2 minutes

Interesting.

PARIS (Reuters) - French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said that following the lifting of the coronavirus lockdown in France on May 11, the country’s borders would remain closed until further notice.

He said that the restrictions would remain in place until at least June 15

I think that (although I don't recall hearing it) he was referring to the Schengen border, so movement within the EU is still possible.
