Who can forget that sheepskin jacket as he strode on to the pitch during the warm ups before games taking all the track suit tops off the players. If I recall that was a rather unique thing for a manager to do.

I thought that as a 13 year old in 1975, and still think it now, perhaps even more so as I reflect as an older geezer. He would have been the final bit of bringing us the league Championship.

Big Jack's not well these days with memory loss but he remembers that time on the pitch after the final whistle when brother Bobby came over to him to give him a hug

Coming from Ashington, I’ve met Jack on several occasions and he is always a lovely guy to talk to.

He always made time to speak to people and is a bit of hero of mine.

My favourite story I heard about him was when he was the manager of the Republic and he use to sign cheques for his restaurant bills, knowing they wouldn't cash them. ;)
