"This is not a time for the faint-hearted"

Chris wilder is in no doubt that the next six "cup finals" are doable - enough to get us into the play-offs and potentially into the promise land of the Premiership.

"We know we can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the division". In football "you get what you deserve". He was quick to praise Bournemouth for their quality "all over the pitch", but stressed "they are in pole position for what they did at the start of the season". Its important for him to get off on the right foot from the get-go. Its also a reminder that Wilder`s Management Team took over from the previous Management - with 16 games already played! [Hard to believe]!

"There`s lots of noise around Bournemouth at the moment" [considering their recent erratic form], but he stressed "we`ve produced good results, which should give our players confidence". With six games to go, "this is not a time for the faint-hearted" - the message is clear: "we want to go for it! Its time to be brave"! Players must "hold their nerve" and "have the bottle" to face the challenges ahead. No ambiguity there!

The next six games? "They are huge - we need performances - there is no margin for error"! Asked about points for the top six, he replied bluntly "I haven`t got a crystal ball".

On Joe Lumley:

We worked hard on Wednesday [against Fulham] - "I was left scratching my head". But of the Hull defeat, he made it quite clear he judged the defeat to be "down to individual error". He was questioned directly, did he mean Joe Lumley when he mentioned the error? Goalkeepers "chose to put gloves on" - "I didn`t". "There is no hiding place on Saturday and there`s no point me glossing over it". In front of the TV cameras and across social media - goalkeepers are particularly "exposed".

Against Hull - on the goal - "he should have saved it" and "Joe understands that". He explained that it was up to Joe to work harder in training and develop himself as a keeper.

Was he being harsh on the keeper? "Footballers have to be big enough to take it"[Criticism]. "Things happen in life. They have to deal with it and come out the other end. Its a test of character"!

"There is no number one in the team"

Asked if he would consider picking any of his other Goalkeepers available, Chris made it crystal clear that "there is no number one player in the team" and that no-one could assume they will always be on the team sheet. He pointed out that every player is competing for a place in the match-day squad and fighting to be on at the start. He also stressed that Martin Payero will be an option and is "doing 45 [mins] for the U23`s" in the next match. "Competition for places is huge".

Dael was unlikely to be available, but Jones was available for selection. Again, he highlighted he didn`t think the two defeats this week had been down to the absence of Isaiah, because there were others capable of fulfilling his role.

It seems as if Chris is asked the same question every week by the assembled journalists: how did he see his progress since coming to the Boro? Basically he repeated he couldn`t [wouldn`t] comment on "what went before" and told the assembled media that "its not for me to talk about it - that`s your job - you guys".

Well said Chris(y)
