Best Boro Five a Side?

5-a-side, so no heading needed...

S.Pears,
FrankQ,
Higgy,
Juno,
JFH,

Subs:
Crossley
Ziegler,
Karembeu
Barmby
Branca

Needs to be proper Sunday morning after a night on the **** game of 5 a side. No proper goalie either, need to take turns.
Robbo
Gazza
Merson
Emerson
O'Neill

Formation, whatever 🤷

Schwarzer (beats Pears because he's a lot bigger and the goals are small).

Southgate (good communicator, immaculate reader of the game. Used to play midfield so more than capable of contributing with the ball ).

Ince (another good communicator, lots of energy and drive and underrated as a footballer. Nightmare to play against in a small space).

Juninho (you need that creative spark. The 96/97 version was world class and he was a grafter).

Hignett (wildcard. You can't afford passengers in 5 a side and I think the likes of Viduka, Jimmy, Boksic etc for all their ability wouldn't be keen on tracking back. Hignett would though and he was an excellent finisher too).

Jim Platt always played out when the team played 5 a side.

I also played against him in the over 35 league and he was centre forward.
He came to do a training session with us on a Friday night at our local youth club.
This was on one of the occasions he had fallen out with Big Jack and had been left out of the side.
At the end he picked a few lads to pick teams for 3 a side.
I picked Jim and another lad on my team thinking we'd be unbeatable with him in goal.
I was gutted when he ordered me to go in goal for the first game, then the other lad for the second 😭

'short' keepers are better in 5-a-side..
Agree with Higgy, very underrated..

Some good teams here..

CcOf the players I have seen Shwatzer, maddren, Emerson Juninho,Clough on reputation substitute Tim Williams for Swarzer and Wilf Mannion for Emerson

If we’re talking about players who’ve played for Middlesbrough but we can have them at their absolute prime…

Schwarzer (you’ve got to be a shot stopper in 5s)
Woodgate (unreal on the ball)
Emerson (skills, power)
Juninho (no words needed)
Viduka (powerful, any angle, such great feet)

Mendieta and Souness in and about too I would say. Also Boksic and Jimmy.

Argument for peak Valdez in goal too if keeper can play from the back.

Anyone who watched the old Masters 6-a-side Football on Sky back in the day would have Bernie first name on the teamsheet.

He was phenomonal.
