Bernard Gent RIP

Had a look on YouTube to see if i could find anything featuring Bernard’s dulcet tones from radio Ayresome but couldn’t find anything. Would love to hear that unmistakable voice again. There must be something somewhere? Wonder if bbc Tees have anything
On youtube Funky my video I put together a good few years back "Demolition of Ayresome Park"

1.05 minutes, BG is there sat in his seat in the north stand, saying his famous quote to the AP faithful through his mic

It was called The Shuffle also by Van McCoy. Got to No 4 in UK charts
It was the song I heard going down the steps of the Chicken Run and out into Clive Road.
Those were great days. Thanks Bernard
Different tune. The whistley one was from a car advert, Citroën or Renault I think.

I'm not sure if he played it after every match, but looking back I always associate it with defeats.

Smooth as silk voice and forever associated with Ayresome Park and magnificent childhood memories,
Goodnight God bless Bernard
RIP

It was something to do with cars, and unless someone finds it, we'll never know.

Ive tried putting this into a tune recognition app but obviously nothing came up. I wonder if writing to said car company historians and seek their help might reap something. I’d love to know what the tune was. That said as somebody else put it above he seemed to play it mostly after defeats.

The last time this was brought up on here I spent some time looking for 1970s Citroën and Renault TV adverts on youtube, there's quite a few, but the whistley tune wasn't used in any of the ones I managed to dig out. Sadly that was the only clue Bernard gave us.

Yes but not all Tv ads would find their way on to YouTube though. Especially 70s ones.
