Ben Gibson

Until the 2nd half. My lad pointed out that both Gibbo and Hanley started carrying the ball out, unchecked, right into our half which coincided with a decent spell of pressure for Norwich. Still couldn't break us down mind until ........................ :(

Yeah I noticed this pretty early on too. Morsy would of out a stop to it. Tav doesn’t press aswell.

Hanley certainly did. Hadn't noticed Gibson doing it so much. That was Saville's role to stop but he tired as the game progressed after a good first half.

Gibbo did it a few times causing me to go all 'Lord Ferg' and bellow "Lads, it's Gibbo" at the screen. :giggle:

He’s a hard worker and that would put him above most other potential managers in the game. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest he’s of low intelligence though. He speaks well and is clearly very meticulous in his own preparation from the interviews I’ve seen and read over the years.

When we are man marking so tightly a player stepping out from defence can cause issues as they can carry the ball quite far into our half
Yeah, the man marking was very evident yesterday. Lost count of the times Bola (y) appeared over on our right tracking his man. It does mean that the guy in front of the full back has a very important defensive role to play if gaps aren't to appear.

Must say I’ve never listened to Ben Gibson and thought he comes accross as ‘thick as 2 short planks’. Silly comment that.
Agree. Most pro footballers aren’t gonna have loads of GCSEs and A-levels and what not but considering that, he comes across as pretty articulate and a good lad. Good work he did with the keepy uppy challenge too.

I hope Ben does well for the rest of his career. He was a good player for us and generated £15m profit when sold.
He is a really nice lad and doesn't strike me as thick in the slightest having spoken personally to him a number of times at Rockliffe. The exact opposite of Woodgate in my experience.
That doesn't of course make him an obvious choice for manager.
