Ben Gibson Norwich Podcast Interview

Struggling to sleep tonight so was browsing through you tube and an interview with Ben Gibson on a Norwich podcast that has just been released popped up.

It's worth a watch as they go through his early career at Boro, discuss what went wrong in the play off final and Boro's shocking preparations and also about how we bounced back with promotion the following year. They also touch on his Burnley experience too. That's probably the first half if it before they then get into the Norwich part of his career.

However I found it contained some interesting stuff about his career with some stories that I've certainly never heard before and it was worth a watch even just for the Boro section.

WARNING: This video contains graphic descriptions of bloody parmos, so if easily annoyed by cheesy chicken based snacks then proceed with caution!

Listened to the podcast on way to work, thanks for the heads up.

Couple of things, it's great to hear from Gibson, but it's a hard listen with those two Norwich fans, especially the one who calls us Booh Rooh.

Other thing, they talked a bit about his time at Burnley but never really got into the problems he had there and why. I would like to hear more about this, especially his feelings towards Dyche.

Glad to hear he's enjoying his football again.

I too would have liked more insight into what went on at Burnley between him and Dyche, I know rumours have been shared on here previously but it would be nice to get the definitive version of what went on as things inevitably can get distorted when stories are passed around fans.

I'm guessing there's been some sort of non disclosure agreement signed possibly with some financial inducements to place it off limits as a topic. The presenters had clearly been briefed as to what they could and couldn't talk about.

Personally I wasn't aware of just how long we'd been based down in London before the play off final. You can easily see how this change to the usual away game routine allowed loads of time for the players to sit around thinking about what might happen and in the process working up their anxiety levels. It seems a really serious mistake in planning and preparation and that's before you even get to the well publicised **** up with the timings of the bus transfer to Wembley.

Anyway, I found it quite an interesting chat and he comes across well, honest and down to earth. Agree with you about the presenter though, that Booh-Rooh pronunciation really got on my wick!

Burnley was a massive step down from the clubs that reported to be interested the summer 2017

'Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City particularly keen having scouted him frequently this season'

'Gibson has also caught the eye of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United'

'Southampton preparing £20m move for Ben Gibson'

'Manchester City eyeing £20m raid for Middlesbrough and England Defender'

'West Ham, Leicester and Everton eyeing a £20m move'

I wonder which team came closer? and who his replacement would have been? I'm guessing there would have been a knock on effect with the players we were targeting to bring in. At the time I seem to remember Southampton being the closest or at least the team most likely. Arsenal would have been a good move at the time I think.. as if uncle Steve turned down Arsenal.

If my memory serves me correctly we were rumoured to be in for Grant Hanley around that time.. he went to Norwich for £3.5m that summer from Newcastle.

Can't fault Steve Gibson for wanting to SMASH THE LEAGUE I'm glad he said that squad was good enough to smash the league and Tony Pulis couldn't do it.

No nastiness in it.. just facts.
