Ben Gibson how has it gone so wrong

From an ever present leader of men at the Boro to less than handful of token appearances for Burnley.

So how has it gone so wrong so soon from England hopeful to a player that can’t even get in the bench now.

Btw I’d have him back tomorrow..

Just one of those things. Had injuries, and was clearly signed as a squad player rather than as any kind of “marquee” player, such is the gulf between spending power from the PL to the Championship.

I liked him a lot but I’m indifferent about him coming back.

The centre-back, 27, has made just six appearances for the Clarets since his £15m move from Boro in August 2018.
He has not featured in the Premier League for Burnley this season.

Thing with Dyche is he plays his best team all the time and doesn’t rotate. Look at Vydra who also cost £11m.

Burnley do rotate but not their centre backs Mee and Tarkowski. As such Gibson doesn’t get a look in. Injury hasn’t helped but he hasn’t broken away from the bench warmer role.

Dyche still hasn’t forgiven us for Chesterfield semi final. Thinks... I’ll sign these bar stewards and let them rot on the bench. (Where’s that gif)? :giggle:

Samba I know you’re posting tongue in cheek and I’ve seen similar posts on old fly me ( ah nostalgia) but it does make you think esp when he now wants fry to fill the non playing void left by Gibson.

As I said it’s just weird.

Dyche is one of these managers who seems to have dramatic fall-outs with certain players and Gibson is not the first.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of him though he's done a brilliant job on a limited budget at Burnley - the bit that seems odd is that a bigger club hasn't taken a punt on him, why is that?

There's no underlying agenda with Dyche, more that he needs to trust his players and once you've earned his trust then he'll stick by you.

He's definitely old-school and that is all it comes down to. He's a good fit for Burnley. If he were to go somewhere a bit more high-profile where the expectations for a certain standard or style of play were different then he might struggle, not for points, but more man-managing and handling the types of players that might not respond to his methods.
