Before the doom descends

Look our confidence is brittle as a shard of glass right now.

NW put out the right team and he made the correct changes, they were just better on the day. When we concede early we still have that shoulder dropping mentality, fans have it too.

we just need to survive by hook or by crook, get Warnock nailed to a 2 year deal and then let him work his magic and rebuild the team over the next 6-8 weeks.

Keep your damn heads up and believe, up the Boro.

The reason we are where we are..
The reason neither Pulis nor Woodgate nor Warnock can get us to score is because we are inconsistent as a team.
The reason we blow hot and cold is because we have individuals who aren`t consistently up to the mark - and the team doesnt perform.
Its not about who, where, what today......
The big picture is reflecting what we already know....we need to chugg into port for repairs and have a complete refit.

To be fair to most on here we've taken the result on the chin. I think it shows there is a stream of positivity in the air, we just need to limp over the line and let the dreams of next season under Warnock take shape!

If Warnock keeps us up (firmly think he will) and is allowed to make the changes he wants (firmly doubt he will) then everything will be fine again. The man knows what he's doing.

Problem being the same as it's been for years, too many people in roles up high are incompetent. This doesn't change year on year and the same mistakes are made. Repeat.

To keep us up, he needs a half decent team. This he hasn’t got. I was feeling confident after Millwall, to be honest now? Not so sure. We are as much( if not more) reliant on the teams below us to keep losing. That’s the most positive straw I see at the moment. Sorry!

Salt and vinegar or sauce on it? ! Seriously, I hope you’re right. It would fit the mould of “ typical Boro”

If you just look at points difference in the table, then it’s incredibly tight. However, it would take four teams to put a mini-run together for us to drop in the relegation zone, including some who are in terrible form.

Given the number of teams down there and the remaining fixtures, I think we will need a maximum of three points to be bullet proof. We might even only need to pick up a point or two.

I’m confident we’ll do just enough and it wouldn’t surprise me if we won at Reading this week.

Pace and creativity hurts teams. QPR, Bristol and Swansea had it in spades, Millwall and Stoke didn't. The results tell a story.
Yet that same QPR got dicked by a poor Wednesday 3-0 at home yesterday and lost 5 of the 6 since lockdown.
Bristol City had lost their previous 5 league matches before squeezing past the awful Hull in midweek.

This Boro team/squad is our issue. It is poor and brittle, lacking ability and backbone.

My hope is Barnsley can't get 5 more points, Luton 4 and Hull 3 from their last 3 matches; and/or Wigan's points deduction happens/Wednesday get one.
My biggest hope is that we can shock a win, or even keep a couple of clean sheets.

If Warnock keeps us up he will of done a fantastic job for me. I’m not bothered how we do it and if some results are good and some awful like yesterday Aslong as he keeps up that’s all that matters. He will of done a great job and then he can build for next years if he stays on.

I agree our squad is the huge issue, has been for years and its gone backwards year on year since promotion was won. Recruitment is as bad as I can recall, ever. As you know I have been banging on about a lack of pace and creativity across the pitch. It is not just about us in attacking terms, we struggle to defend against it too our defenders are slow, allow themselves to get pulled all over the pitch leaving big gaps that nobody bothers to cover effectively and if we do win the ball we have next to no runners. Millwall and Stoke had none, they still created chances though but we thankfully coped. There does seem to be a bias for away teams getting results more often than not too.

It is clear our confidence is rocked when we concede and heads do go down. We have terrible defenders, turgid one paced midfielders and strikers that lack strength and lollop around. As much as I like Roberts, he needs to learn when to pass. We are in dire straights, as you don’t know what you are going to get from any of them. After Millwall I was elated by the result and the effort, but we still had dodgy moments and reality struck again yesterday.

Cardiff are fighting for the play offs, Monk will have his Wednesday team fired up to relegate us. Reading are playing well by all accounts, but It is probably our best hope of getting something. If we lose at Reading then i fear we are relying on others losing as I don’t see us getting anything in the last two games. Looking at the others down there, they seem to be at least fighting. We really are as big a shambles as we have ever been in my lifetime as a squad of players, and that is saying something given some squads of the past. This squad lacks fighters, as NW said, no leaders. We are too nice a team lacking so much of the qualities needed in the modern game.

I can't see Barnsley getting another point from Leeds and Brentford away and Forest at home. They need 5 to get past us.
I think Hull will lose at both Wigan and Cardiff, leaving Hull v Luton as a huge fixture. I think Luton will win it and Hull will drop; they need 3 to overhaul us.
Luton also have really winnable matches at home to QPR and Blackburn. I think they will escape.
I can't see where Charlton get another point from with Birmingham and Leeds away and a home match with Wigan. I think they will drop, but I fear seeing Leeds switch off being already promoted by the last day and Bowyer burgling an impossible win.
Huddersfield have Wednesday and Millwall away and WBA at home. I think a point will do them and they will get it.
If Stoke don't beat Brum at home today they could be in as much trouble as us, as I can't see them getting anything from trips to Bristol and Forest and think Brentford will beat them in the Potteries.

Even with 12 points off, I think Wigan will survive as I think they will beat Hull and Charlton.
Sheff Wed is key. If they get 12 point deduction, then if they beat us and Huddersfield at home they will stay up.

Of course these are predictions in an impossible league to predict, but I'm desperate for us to secure the point or two I think we might need before going to Hillsborough, there could be so, so much riding on that match.

I'm hoping Charlton, Barnsley and Hull save us from ourselves and we have the buffer of Huddersfield and Luton. I don't think the 12 points deductions are our best chance of salvation.

Agree with most of that but i wouldn’t say for sure Charlton won’t pick up
Another point. They could beat Birmingham and Wigan for sure

It's simplifying some what now, 3 points and we are effectively safe and can plan for next year.
