The disrespect the BBC website shows the championship is astounding,I was trying to find out the Forest score yesterday. They had premiership,Scottish premiership, women's football and even German football before the championship.I had to scroll down and go into scores to find out the result,I thought the championship was one of the highest attended leagues in Europe.

Probably because they don't feature any of the football league on the BBC unless it's the FA Cup.

Sky Sports are equally as guilty when it comes to the FA Cup or the Champions League for example.

Yeah, it's not just the BBC, it's most media.

Yet more people watch the championship than most sports they do cover. The level is higher than most leagues in Europe and there are some big clubs playing in it, certainly clubs with bigger reputations/attendances than some clubs playing in the prem.

But we all know football doesn't exist outside the premier league.

Nobody cares about second tier minnows like boro or the rest of the clubs except for the dwindling support of the clubs.

Football is dead outside of the top flight in terms of public interest.

I watched the first episode of that BBC doc about about the Premier League the other day.

I was surprised to hear the PL described as a super league in a news report from the time just before it kicked off.

As I was only really young then I have grown up with the PL and didn't realise it was much more than just a rebrand from the old division 1.

That’s all it is, at the heart of it, a rebranding exercise. Hate people talking about the “premier league era” as if football before then was a totally different sport.

It's not just BBC.

Skysports are ramming less interested stuff down our throats too.

It was only last week, that the England v India cricket test match was turned off the SkySports Main Event in favour of womens football.

I have no problem with Womens football. But are you seriously telling me the viewers for Womens football will be higher than the England v India cricket match?

They even changed the coverage from cricket to WSL when in the middle of a review  I couldn't believe it.

In football, unless it's PL, FA Cup, CL, or WSL, then Skysports and other main media outlets couldn't care less.

Even the BBC weather forcasts will have a PL theme when calling the weather, for example, they'll say, this afternoons match between Everton & Newcatsle will enjoy some nice spells of sunshine, it doesnt matter if you live in Tranmere they'll be a black clouds overhead

Isn't the EFL the best supported league in the world or have I made that up???
IIRC the claim was it is the 4th best supported league in the world, but there are 552 matches in it, compared to 380 in Prem, La Liga, Ligue 1 & Serie A and 306 in the Bundesliga, Eredivisie etc.

I think the claim was for the whole league not just championship. Stretching it a bit I know but if our 2nd division is 4th best supported of any division then that is still some achievement,

Yep, and before 1992 football didn't even exist, just a couple of cavemen kicking around a pigs bladder in between hunting sabre toothed tigers.

No it was just the Championship.
There are nearly twice as many games in the Championship as the Bundesliga, Eredivisie & Jupiler etc, so it isn't surprising that more people watch Championship football than most other leagues.

If you look at average attendance / game the Championship is below Bundesliga 2.

At least we get a mention on some of the Prem games.
We got 2 mentions when I was listening , as Middlesbrough the club who sold Bamford and Traore way below their present value.

This is a couple of years out of date as it looked at average attendances per league between 2013-2018 but there is no reason to think it is wildly different now:

Yep I meant the league as a whole, a league is the sum of its clubs amd that is why I thought the EFL was the best supported league in the world, but as I say I could've made it up to fit some 'I hate top flight football' agenda 😁

Wonder what the difference in the price of a ticket is between the two?

Without checking I'd assume it's a lot. In fact wouldn't be surprised if the championship was the second most expensive league in the world behind the premier league.

To get the attendances it does is impressive. There's only really 4 leagues get considerably more on average.

I'm not saying they aren't premier league biased, they are, massively, but i'm a bit confused by what you're saying.
When you go into the scores on BBC it goes Premier League, Scottish Premier League, then Championship. That's been the case for a few years and it was still in that order at the weekend (and still is if you go on there now).
