Have you ever been to a game?

I’ve done a couple in New York but last week I took my son (6) to watch Newcastle Eagles v London Lions. Was a good atmosphere and lots going on to keep my son entertained. Eagles weren’t great. Lions had some good players.

Basketball is probably my favourite “American” sport athough all the high-fiving is a bit OTT 😂

I used to sometimes take my sons to see the Newcastle eagles, years ago, when they played at the arena.
There could be 4k in there, and like you say a great atmosphere.
I forget what it was cost but it was great fun.
👍

Been in the states. I think I prefer baseball for the day out/spectacle though, over hockey/gridiron too. Watched the Toronto Blue Jays last year and really enjoyed it. Mind you I don't find myself sitting down to watch it on telly.

Went to see Harlem Globetrotters a couple of times at Wembley Arena when at school, also Sunderland Sunblest when they were the big local team

Watched Sunderland play Doncaster in a friendly at the Dolphin Centre in the 80s. Was a big fan of Monday night games on Channel 4 when it started and remember Man Utd having a team!

Hope to get to an NBA game in the near future, basketball is the only other team sport I really watch with any interest.
Any fans on here? Wondered what anyone thought about the Doncic trade this week, he’s been a favourite player of mine since he was at Real Madrid. It pretty much seems like the worst trade in NBA history to me.

I’ve seen Orlando play New York and Philadelphia play Indiana when I’ve been over in America. Im hoping to go see my favourite team Boston next year.

I’ve also seen a few GB men and ladies games going back to before the 2012 Olympics. I’ve also seen a few Teesside Lions games which are obviously quite low level but it’s decent to watch a local team.

Great trade for LA, makes them a lot better but Dallas are crazy. Trading their best player (one of the best of all time for them) is mind blowing. 🤯

I don’t know who’s better out of Luka and Nowitzki, he was my previous favourite before Luka came along. One of my favourite things about him is that the NBA is full of such high level athletes yet one of the best players in the league is kind of a fat guy!

Went to see Perth Wildcats vs Adelaide (or Melbourne, can't recall now) in the 90s, it was really popular back then in Australia. The big players were mainly players from the US either at the end of their careers or who hadn't quite made it.

Been to see the Golden State Warriors play the LA Lakers, back when they still played in Oakland before they went across to Mission Bay. Was able to see greats like Durrant and Curry in real life, but I was still bored as I am whenever I've watched it on the telly.

To me the difference is that euphoria you get when a goal is scored in football, and there's maybe one or two of those a game coupled with a deflated feeling when the opposition scores (many on them recently). I just dont see how you can get the same when there's tens of baskets per game.

Now baseball, that's a great game...

Edit:- I see @Frozen Horse has articulated it better than me.

Same here, I find the non-stop scoring boring.

Me and my son go to watch the Eagles and play at the Arena Sunday. Great fun to play on the proper court although split into 3 courts.

Saw the Globetrotters at the Arena last year

Keep an eye on the NBA.

Apart from March Madness, I really can't get into basketball. The NBA has passed me by for the 8 years I've lived here.

There's something off with that. Franchise player, just taken his team to the finals, likely to be a perennial top 2-3 player for the next 5-10 years traded for next to nothing, without any other teams even being told that he was uo for grabs to drive up the price.
All set up for the views, to keep the Lakers relevant once LeBron packs it in.
