Come on - more like a £1m a piece. - up front

Hamilton was a complete novice more so than Rogers who was £1m.

Burzorg was at Division 1 Huddersfield who were desperate to reduce their wage bill - would we really pay £2.5m to £3m for a player at such a club who had a an erratic goal scoring record - more like a £1m gamble/bench warmer/money ball player.

Windass is 31, but yes I would have had him on a free. Wrexham seem to be throwing a lot of money around at present (see below) , possibly they offered him a wage increase above what we pay. if we were interested.

For me - Burzorg and Hamilton were risk purchases from a relatively small amount of the profit on the sale of Rogers.

Seems like we could be in for a busy week next week…..think we’ve already signed Rav & HH replacements, though the club deny that….looks like Brittain is close and expect a striker or two (Ings & Sulc?)….reckon we’ll fill the rest with a few loans….he seems to rate Silvera so maybe we won’t sign a left wing back permanently?

Well he doesn't have one of the best passing completion rates in this division and he never has. In fact he's below a great deal amount of midfielders in the league, never mind some bog standard defenders and strikers.

2024/25 - 77.9%
2023/25 - 76.9%
2020/21 - 71.5%
2019/20 - 73.8%

Spending a single penny on Bannan would be a waste of money.

In fact spending nothing, but still signing him, would be a waste of valuable time.

Absolutely, especially when Edwards wants mobile and dynamic midfielders, he would be the opposite of what we're looking for.

Just to be clear.


I said in my post " i'm not saying we should sign him".
You've lectured me in two sentences why it would be a waste of time and money.
Never once ever did I say, or intimate that we should sign him.


If you don't agree fair enough.
"Can't agree with you mate" would have sufficed.

Silva isn’t a striker he’s an 8, so would be the Hackney replacement you think we’ve already signed. Kante is a CDM not an 8
 
Would he be a bad option from the bench? Morris has a little Championship experience now but Kante and McCabe are very young and untried. I'm all for giving one of those two a run from the start alongside Morris but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have an old hand like Bannon on the bench to come in and help out when one of them needs replacing.

It would have been Howson but obviously he wanted to go back to his boyhood club which was fair enough, but Bannon would be a decent cheap, experienced alternative now that he's gone.

Likelihood is we get Sulc if Hackney goes then?

I’m relatively relaxed about the rest, assuming we get Brittain and cover for Conway. Hoping for a couple of interesting loans who can be in the first team picture, which tbf is what we’ve done the last few seasons.

Looks like conways competion might Salech, he's a right handful, again i would be quite happy with a lad who got 8 goals in 20 games in a very poor cardiff last year.
 
‘Player Profiles’ - interesting to have a look at players with similar attributes to the players that have left, rumoured to be leaving along some of the players that have been linked. Some start to make a bit of sense.. some seem to fit better in context.. and others are a bit of a stretch.

Just getting those int he 'Yes please' category would massively strengthen us and make us one of the biggest investors in our squads this summer.
