Barnier's Brexit diary

probably the same thought process as when they voted for it
Yes but they didn't have the information then. Now it's turning disastrous. Now there are issues at every turn I can't grasp why people continue to defend it. Why people can't look at what has happened and go "you know what, in 2016 I made a mistake. That much is becoming g clear" I can't understand who they can ignore everything and still defend it. This can't be the brexit they voted for. Unless they are sociopaths

well it was pretty clear to anyone that put any research and analysis into it, that it was going to be bad and certainly the image painted was clearly unachievable. The vocal brexiteers fall into a number of categories that I can see a) a small number of people profiting of it, b) a significant number of people treating it like they are supporting an FA Cup winning team and are gloating they are the champions without really understanding or caring what the trophy is c) people so entrenched that they can't be honest with themselves let alone anyone else, that this isn't really turning out well d) the hopeful optimist that thinks this is just a blip and the sunlit uplands are just behind the next dangerous craggy mountain path

This thread about Barnier’s diary.

No I didn’t. I saying in my round about way it’s about money and his own ambition also. That’s why i put them in front of ‘I had to tell the truth F**k o**’.

Do you not have a work diary?

Do you not think it's a good idea for some of the most powerful people in the world to keep a true and accurate record of their work, especially when they're working on deals that are basically worth trillions?

Do you think he's lying? Which parts?

If he's lying then surely some credible people will step forward and say he's lying?

Money and ambition? He's 70 FFS and probably not short of cash. A lot just like to tell their story, nothing wrong with that, most of us chat about our $hite work with our mates down the pub, high profile people often do it with books.

I'm surprised to read that BJ's wrote a few books actually, and he's nowhere near Barniers age, classic titles such as:

The Churchill Factor
The Dream of Rome
Friends, Voters, Countrymen
Seventy-Two Virgins

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: I thought those were actually made up, but it appears they're real :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Didn’t the EU document the full Brexit process. So why did Barnier’s need to keep a diary on the Brexit.
If I was dealing with this Tory government then I would do so to keep track of everything that happened off the record, because, you know, this government are utterly untrustworthy. It was probably an insurance policy, and if he releases it, then as a historical document it should be fascinating. Of course some people will simply refuse to believe anything in it that criticises their ingrained viewpoint, but that's less of an issue with him.

So the ‘I had to tell the truth‘ is a quote I found after googling Barnier diary and is not me saying he’s lying. Imo the only reason his diary is seeing the light of day is for money which comes with the real reason helping him to become the French President and nothing about telling the truth.

I doubt they'd be virgins after meeting him.

He’s going to make lot of money out of this.
Very good chance he will be the next President. This book is going to make his chances even better.

Why did he need to keep a diary.
All about money and ambition.

This threads about Barnier’s diary so how am I deflecting

Tony Benn's diaries were hardly about making money, nor were Robin Cook's.

The money comes because of imo the real reason the diary are being published. It’s will documented that Barnier will probably run to be French President and the diary could well be the thing that gets him there.

I can't quite believe some of the thought processes going on in this thread. The topic is indeed about Barnier's diary but instead of being absolutely mortified by the jaw-dropping stupidity of the Tories in managing it, they're more pi$$ed off that Barnier might be making a few quid!! Unbelievable Jeff. o_O

You could be right.

It's only one person and to be fair he's doing it to deflect from the incompetence. For some reason. Only he will know

Political diaries are rarely about making money. They are about getting things down on record.

There is an academic project going on right now where politicians are documenting the last 5 quite extraordinary years. Some of the politicians are asking for their accounts not to be published for now, while they are still in Parliament and have to work with colleagues, but it's raison d'etre is for future understanding and putting things on record.

I take it, if you were a politician, it would be only about money?

If anyone wants to once again talk how incompetence our government going head. I‘ve never defended the governments or voted for these clowns. Just looking at a different way that Barnier is using his diary to further his ambition to be come president. Is that ok

You often deflect from the horrors of brexit. I can't begin to fathom why

No I just think Barnier wants to be the French President and the diary will get him there. Him showing how stupid our government was will carry well with the French people imo.
