I don't claim to be in the know usually on this type of thing, but my wife's side of the family know him well (only just found this out) & they've just messaged to say he's signed for us! Not aware of it being common knowledge yet, so thought I'd post It's a bit weird considering he played for Rotherham today, but only passing on what was said... If it's not the case I can only apologise. Looks a very good signing anyway if true - UTFB!

I doubt very much that he would play for Rotherham if he had signed for us. Perhaps he thinks that a deal is imminent, or has verbally agreed terms with us? Ihope so.

Unless we signed him straight after the game or we wanted him to play for Rotherham against Watford to try to take points off them (which they did) then seems strange timing. Hope it is right because he looks a good player.

I am pretty sure he will sign. He is clearly the longterm target to replace Howson (eventually). Also getting him on the cheap due to the contract situation.

That said.... I'd be stunned if they let him play with a deal in the bag. He's started the last 2. So they are clearly happy to run the risk of him getting a knock to get results.

I hope it comes off. I ain't seen much of him. Yet going by Rotherham fans he's a 'baller' (as the kids say ).

I watched the Watford game on the Firestick today as very little else appealed. Barlaser played alright. Looked tidy on the ball and got stuck in.

Rotherham should have won it towards the end. Fosu made a right meal of a one v one 8 yards out.

Overall, wasn’t hugely impressed with Watford but they are dangerous with the likes of Sarr up top so will always be a threat in the final 3rd.

Next Saturday should be a decent game!

He’s free in the summer anyway so why pay a £1. This summer he’s no longer theirs.

Maybe a deal has been done but we left it until after blackburn and Watford so as not too weaken Rotherham against play off rivals. They don't play again until Feb now so no reason to not sign it off ASAP.

I doubt a lot of clubs would do business with them in the future if they did that. It may be precluded anyway under the terms of the original transfer.

They would be best asking the mags to reduce their entitlement under the original deal.

I would have thought if his contract is up in the Summner and he wants to play for Boro now and we want him he will be with us this window.

Rotherham can't compete on wages or ambition - its a bit like the Tav situation was in the Summer.

If Rotherham hang on they get nothing and say we offer £900k (Less 40%) and a good set of add ons, they have something to negotiate to buy a decent Division 1 or D2 player who will be fully motivated.

May be that a deal has been agreed in principle, but Rotherham need to get a replacement in before he leaves. In their predicament (potential relegation) this seems fair enough.
Expect a deadline day deal for an undisclosed fee.

Perhaps we could do a deal where Barlaser comes to Boro and Caolan Boyd-Munce goes to Rotherham for the rest of the season, and we revisit it in the summer. That way CBM gets more game time, win-win for us.
