Bank of Dave on Netflix

Just watched it.

Bends the truth abit tho! there was a documentary about Dave Fishwick on a few years ago - he wasn’t allowed to set up a bank so he set up a mutual lending society instead.

Enjoyed it though.

Especially the cameo from Donkey Dyche.

The documentary was better but its still worth a watch.

It just shows how horrifically bad our banking system is.

Got round to watching it last night. It was entertaining and thought Rory Kinnear was on a different plane to the rest of the cast.

Im not a big fan of Richard Curtis style rom comedies but Kinnear made up for it. The Def Leppard concert scene however I thought a bit cringy but then Im not a sentimentalist.

Watched it last night as well. Great feel good film, enjoyed as much as yesterday, another great feel good film.

It's definitely formulaic. Written by the same guy who did Fishermans Friends. Same premise as Bank of Dave. Bumblingly awkward nice suit from London happens on the Cornish village, , sees the potential in the local group to make loads of money and falls in love with the local feisty but incredibly attractive single girl.

I'd watched it yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed it. Nice story and really shows our system up for what it is.

Having worked with the bank's they really hate new competition. They have organisations specifically designed to make it hard for new entrants to come in and change things.

Of course they do and they are greedy monoliths making money for their shareholders. Thats the system. And the new entrants once established would become the same.

Burnley Savings and Loan is different. It really is based on the Bailey Savings and Loan from the wonderful film Its a Wonderful Life and it is fantastic to see them doing well, employing people and giving so much for the local community.

Haven't seen the film yet but I remember the documentary. Wondered if the film was the same premise. Might give it a watch tonight.

Just me that thought some of the acting was awful then?
You've been in that old UNITED STATES too long and expect top performances every time. I honestly can't understand why Dyche was nominated for an Oscar. 🤣 🤣 🤣

The acting is rubbish but it is a real feel good film.

I honestly hadn't heard anything about Burnley Savings & Loans Ltd.

P.S. Bonus from the film is, I am sitting here drinking whiskey and listening to Def Leppard whilst eating good cheese.
