Bamford & Traore

I didn't watch the game last night, but I've watched Wolves a few times this season and I've barely noticed him.

He'd looked like he was finally coming good for them a year or two ago, but I think last night was the first league goal he's been involved in in an absolute age.
I remember when he played for us he always looked happy, even when he was getting brought down, he was scrambling to his feet to retain posession. Last night he looked disinterested.

Possibly a bit of sour grapes creeping into Traore threads. He's a fantastic player and we virtually had to give him away. Wolves could be quids in if they got rid of him tomorrow.

It was interesting after the match that Bielsa was basically saying that Traore wasn't good enough to make up for shortcomings he brought to the team.

Bit funny coming from the opposition manager given Traore's shot is why they lost, but it reminded me a bit of Warnock with Roberts.
It always surprised me that Roberts never got the same sort of criticism as Traore got. ‘Brainless Footballer’ no end product etc etc

Roberts was ten times worse than Traore. Maybe a bit of unconscious racism? Maybe because Traore hadn’t attracted a £15m transfer fee or had Celtic fans singing his praises.

I don’t think any boro fan wanted us to get rid of Traore, where as with Roberts I think most could see that he had to move on.

No he isn't. He doesn't score or create chances. The money we received for him makes our CF a bargain.

Not from me, I watched the game, he was anony, ous for most of the game and he looked unhappy. Great run and shot that led to the goal otherwise his performance was meh!

Furthermore, we didn't give him away and I would be surprised if his value has gone up much as he has started to go backwards a bit.

Not sour grapes, just my opinion on what I see in front of me.

I wish somebody would 'give away' £19000000 to me.

Continental players and agents seem to go for release clauses and at the time 19M seemed an unrealistic valuation. When he came good under Pullis both sides (Boro and Traore) would have to agree to change it, so whilst Boro's admininistration rightly take flack at times I am not sure that this is one they can be blamed too much for.

Without the clause how much would we have realistically got? I imagine about 25m at the time.

Under Pep at City
The very last place he needs to go. Sitting on the bench until he becomes an identikit midfielder and then gets sold to Celtic to play out the last 3 years of his career.
Needs to go to a manager who has a bit of swash and buckle, and will play him as a winger.
The trouble is he needs to be the main man and have a team based around his abilities. He isn't suited for the modern game which is about pressing, passing and organisation, where your wide man should be a forward as much as a winger. He is a man out of time really. He should have been playing 20 years ago.

He’s definitely suffered from the Jimenez injury.

But also he doesn’t suit the 343 formation whereby the width is provided by the wingback and he is expected to be more of an inside forward.

He’d be most suited to a 4231, also a counter attacking team. Spurs would be ideal.

Imagine Kane dropping deep and looking up, Son flying down the left and Traore in the right. Also Traore putting balls in for Kane and Son to finish.
