Did anyone know him, or of him, quite a celebrity back then

Looks as though a relation of his got in on the act also (y)

Anyone else remember Margaret and Smithy sending each other love notes every week in the Gazette personal column?

Personal columns were so addictive, I used to read those love notes and other stuff every night. And on that note - there's never a bad time is there?

I remember them! My mam & dad used to look out for their messages and wonder who they were. I wonder if anyone ever 'outed' them?
 
I still have the copy of the Gazette in which my letter was published. I have just re-read it and my I was such an optimistic young lad in those days
