Ayala

He's never managed a full season in his career, and he's injured in only his third appearance for Blackburn.
He was largely excellent for us, but he's missing for half the season at a time now.

I repeat.....when fit he would get into any championship team.

I’m not arguing about his fitness record.

The reason he is at Blackburn is because of his fitness record so as Said above you cannot ignore it. Would be surprised if he played more than half of their games.

He's capable of being as good as it gets in the championship. I'd agree that our back 3 haven't missed him.

I think he looked out of his depth in the PL.
I also think his head needs to be right; he looked constantly unhappy and petulant under Monk and was far more interested in wrestling than football. I did think he improved again under TP.

It seems likely his fitness record is behind the "falling out" or whatever you want to call it with the club. Lots of rumours of medical staff repeatedly not finding anything wrong with him and yet him insisting he was injured. Eventually some underlying resentment will build with something like that.

No doubt the contract offer took his injury record into account. He will have thought he was worth a contract purely in line with his ability.

I don't know how anyone can say he was out of his depth in the Prem though, he barely played. When he did he looked fine (just as he had done against Prem opposition in the cups).

I find it hard to have anything bad to say about George / Clayton or Ayala. They all got older and more injury prone etc.

That said they were all stunning bits of business. It proves you can still find decent players when skint (throw Leadbitter into that). They were all on good wages but earned them through many good years. How many appearances did those 4 rack up?

All good things come to an end. So they moved on and I wish them good look as for most it's a final payday on a longer contract than we could offer.

The current squad would look better and if we had George and Ayala in or around the bench (I throw Shotton onto that as he's no club).

I think in some ways we are in a similar situation. Looking at players at 1-3mil and it's easier to find value for money. You buy players at 5-6-7-15mil and you want and need instant success and you'll never sell them on at a profit.

To think Monk bought Britt/Fletcher and Braithwaite for 31 fecking million🙄. He's our Neil who can't get one in for free.

our recruitment team takes a lot of stick, some it rightly deserved, but under Mogga and for a time under AM they did good business.

I'd argue Adomah was a bargain, although he cost a bit more than the others.
i thought Carayol and Ledesma were improvements on what we had for very small outlays too.
