Audio books, any on here use them

I've listened to a couple of WW2 podcasts but they seemed quite low toned, I was hoping for a bit of passion in the voice

Couldn’t comment on those. I’m more into stuff about football/cricket and football/cricket history etc. Same with the audiobooks.

Is the football about an individual or someone talking about a particular season

I have listened to a few audiobooks but have just ended my subscription.

The quality of the book is also to do with the quality of the narrator. I have listened to Randolph Fiennes reading Mad, bad and dangerous to know, Bumble reading his book , but I switched off to it, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer which I enjoyed, Treasure Island narrated by Timothy West (one of my favourite books) and West put his full self into reading it, Peter Crouch’s book read by himself was quality and laugh out loud at times, The Tattoo of Auschwitz, but my favourite book was Simon Reeves’Step byStep.’ This was read by Reeves and he kept you wanting to hear more.

I have a few books to listen to for my holidays - Thanks, Johnners by Jonathan Agnew and Bobby Robson’s Farewell but not Goodbye.

The only reason I ended my subscription because I wasn’t finding the time to listen and it had jumped up to £7.99 a month.

I normally commute 2-3 hours a day so am big on audio books.

Audible is excellent but wouldn't pay full price. You can buy 5 credits on eBay for £12, or you can use a trick to keep re-signing up for the £3.99 for 3 months trial using a desktop computer (doesn’t work on mobile app).

I prefer audibles interface to listening to them on any other device especially mp3 as it tracks where you are at. Divides by chapters, can set timers etc. MP3 are a PITA if you fall asleep or whatever

My son listens to audio books and so I’ve listened to quite a few with him. It’s quite a relaxing thing to do, especially if the reader is a good one a la Stephen Fry (Harry Potter books)
