Attacking football - The Future is looking bright

Despite a disappointing end to the season I think we should all be excited about Boro's future.
After defence-first pragmatic football under Karanka and Pulis I think the intention of Gibson and his team was always a steer towards a more positive brand of play.
You could see first under the controversial selection of Woodgate as Manager.
Yes it was a risky move that didn't pay off.
The Club was probably a bit naïve in trying to perform a handbrake turn on our previous shape.
Our struggles I think a reflection of just what a strong league the Championship is - nobody gets a free pass to play 'pretty football'.

Maybe, just maybe, Woodgate's tenure came a little bit too early.
Football seems to have embraced a more 'open' game with the idea of passing out from the back and everything that comes with it.
Rewind just a couple of years and the environment wasn't as helpful.

After the rescue act that was Warnock we then moved onto the attack-minded Pulis and then onto the more thoughtful Carrick-ball.
Some of the football I saw last year was the best I have seen Boro play and I've been going since 1980.

The Manager, Coach, Chairman and supporters all seem aligned to the same mission.
Not wanting to speak for everyone here but I'd think most of us are well happy with what we have been seeing recently?

We went into this change of ideal with a very thin squad that has only really been patched up with a few loans and relatively cheap signings.
We (hopefully) are financially sound and well within FFP due to the recent sale of Tav and Spence.
Reading through the different Club forums most other Clubs are longing for such big player sales to boost opportunity.

Wouldn't it be great to think lessons had been learnt from the disastrous post-relegation window?
We seem to have evolved from that position with a DOF now with his 'feet under the table'.
Fingers crossed all is well behind the scenes and the team is already working on a plan to provide an even better 23/24 season.
