Assombalonga injured

Hes barely had a kick after watford. Like someone said hes putting more work in which is making us harder to play against rather than being a man down as in previous seasons but he doesnt know how to combine that with still getting into good positions to get chances. This is why strikers who do hard graft and chip in with around 15 goals should be appreciated more. Britt is showing that hes probably not good enough to work for the team and still get 15 goals although I hope he can turn it around.

Looking at the Gazette tonight he's not sure now if we'll bring in another striker at all! Strange this.

Hopefully reverse phycology.
He is maybe taking the pizz out of the ‘recruitment team’.
After Captain Britts efforts yesterday, I Would think they were on the phone to interested parties at 5pm Yesterday.

There was more movement from Captain Tom yesterday than Captain Britt.

He has got to be the easiest ‘striker’ in the league to mark.
I’m actually surprised they even do.

When will people stop making excuses for him?

Was Warnock making excuses for him when he gave his reason for subbing him?
i e muscle stiffness and needed Tuesday?

I'm not including you Indeedio as while not his biggest fan you always say when you think he's done OK, but some are just lurking waiting to slag him off

I thought he was poor yesterday
If muscle stiffness contributed to that then it was right to sub him, if not I would have been subbing him if there was no improvement after an hour anyway

He's worked hard in the early games this season, but yesterday was poor
Everyone should be allowed an off day, but if they continue that's another matter
He tends to score his goals in batches, so let's hope they come soon - as we have nobody else

Its 100% clear Akpom can't play the lone striker and its 99% clear he can't play any other role either. I will give him the possibility of a right place right time player. He has already done that to be fair.
But another for that long illustrious list for me

Akpom has pace, strength and decent in the air and works for the team theres no reason he cant do a job up top on his Todd.

I agree, in the right system I think he could play as the lone striker. I think having Roberts playing in the hole would help, but then I also think Britt could play as the lone striker if we have Roberts playing in the hole. I think now is the time where we should be looking to move away from this 3 midfielders malarky. It isn't necessary as Howson and Morsy are very solid midfielders at this level and I think they should be able to form a solid partnership together, so let's go back to 4-2-3-1 with Roberts playing in the hole.

I think a 3 of Johnson, Roberts and Tav behind Akpom on Tuesday with Morsy and Howson in the middle could be a good option for us and could catch Bristol a bit off guard.

Yeah, can't see it happening but would be very happy with that. Think we have plenty of options out wide to be honest. Tav, Browne, Johnson and even Coulson who did well playing wide left at times last season.

I thought he looked less effective after Britt went off, so maybe not used to playing on his own up front?

I didnt see the second half due to internet issues abroad but I'm just making my assertion from what I know his strengths are. Theres no reason he shouldn't be able to do a job as lone forward at this level. Whether he can or not in reality remains to be seen.

Would hope so. A decent striker with a good goal ratio will make all the difference and turn the stalemates into vital wins. Must be someone out there who doesn't cost the earth. Where did Pukki come from? Could do with one of them sort of bargains!

We are down to the dregs now I’m afraid.
There was an opportunity to get the player you suggest but that ended when the window closed.
I can’t see us unearthing a goal machine from the lists of freed players.
As Warnock has rightly said, if they were any good, they wouldn’t be scratching about for a club.

I reckon whoever comes in could be a thirty something, and player who in his prime wouldn’t have touched Boro with a bargepole.
I just hope he isn’t a foreigner that takes 3 months to ‘settle’ in.
We need goals now.
