Assombalonga - half a million per goal

15 million fee

about 6-8 million in wages
over half a million per goal net cost

out of contract in 6 months

new contract?

no new contract?

you decide

I'm slightly concerned that Warnock has said we have a few new deals on the table. I wonder if he's one of them?

Johnny has rightly got an extra year but it leaves Wing / Britt / Fletcher and Johnson out of contract in the summer. Johnson is going about things the right way👍

'if' he's on the reputed 30-40k a week then we simply won't get anywhere near that. Although we could offer half and its probably more than he would get elsewhere. I just hope we ain't busting a gut to keep him.

The fact we paid 15mil 😩 for another champo forward is stunning. I try to give him benifit of the doubt but today was one of the worst 45mins I've seen from a forward. It wasn't just the misses but the 2 occasions he could have passed..... Shocking decision making😕

The game should have been over after 30mins. No excuses.

problem is , who woul be available next year who is 'as good' , on a free transfer, not that he's great, but chances are we'd have to pay a fee forsomebody with similiar ability

Fletcher also out of contract, no money coming in because of covid, might have to bite the bullet and offer them both an extension

Offer fletcher one but not Brit, you’d t more out of a league 1 gamble than him.

it just hasn’t worked out for him here and he doesn’t suit the way we play at all. He’s not worth a 1/4 of what he’s currently on.

Not even close to being one of the worst performances I've seen from a striker. All of Kris Boyd's appearances for a start. He was a real nuisance for the first half hour using his strength and pace. Produced a lovely flick for a move down the left and linked up well on a few occasions. He isn't the first striker to have a shot on goal ignoring a better placed player. His miss from 2 yards is among the worst I've ever seen from a Boro player. It practically defied the laws of physics.
Akpom was worse when he came on. Barely touched the ball, and when he did he lost it.
Some people don't half get dramatic when we lose a game.

Just been watching Britt’s highlights reel from Peterborough 2013-14. Yes it’s a highlights reel and he is playing at a lower level but he definitely seems to have lost a yard of pace since those days. Many players compensate for losing some acceleration by developing skills in other areas later in their careers. Britt’s not managed to do this. I foresee the next few years of his career petering out -much like Jordan Rhodes’ career is currently doing because he contributes so little to the team other than the occasional poacher finish.

hes put muscle on since then and lost most of his mobility, what is it with modern footballers and weight training? 80's footballers never went near weights

The flick was good
Akpom was anonymous

I'll even add

Britt won and scored the penalty

But he was rubbish

Mr Gibson relies on his advisors.
His advisors aren't very good and rely on an old rolodex Tony Mowbray left lying around years ago.

He maybe lets people perform the roles that they were appointed to do, with minimum interference from his good self.

No doubt if he needs help he can always come on here and take advice from experts who prefer to flip burgers, work in nail bars than take on a Football Club.

Don't freak, only joking.🤔

I’m not remotely concerned because if he gets a new deal it won’t be anything like the one he’s on. If he stays, it will be for a wage that is appropriate for his experience and the remainder will hopefully go towards some much better competition for him.

People may never “forgive” his initial transfer fee, but the longer he stays, the longer he has to pay it back, cos if he leaves we’ll get none of it back at all.

I blame Christiano Ronaldo, everyone started to think you had to bulk up stupidly to be a forward
