Looks like he has a year to go on his contract. Would you offer him a new one in the summer?

I would. I don’t want to lose him and he’s getting better and better and think he’s enjoying it here and feels a big part of it. Still at a good age where he can improve aswell and hopefully bag even more goals next year.

I would, yes, as long as he's not on daft wages.

We're not getting that fee back anyway, and he's come on a lot since we bought him.

That’s my thoughts, not interesting in getting the fee back just want him to play for us and do well for us. I think he would stay if offered a deal

We'd get pretty much the full fee back i think, he's really blossoming. i'd keep hold, might end up raking in 30 mill+

Joelinton anyone??

I don’t think we would get it back but if we sign him down to a new deal and say he scores between 15-20 league goals next season then we are in a very good position.

When we got him I thought he was a sort of pacey wide forward type who’d create as many as he scored. I think over the last year or so he’s really started to accept his role as something else and it’s working out for him. Top scorer this season, no reason he can’t get towards 15-20 next season.

Agree, he’s ‘found’ himself and is maturing into the player he is meant to be. Would you get him tied down?

Absolutely, that header was a proper grown up striker's goal, 15-20 a season in this league is easy the same in price tag millions, or was, we'll have to see once the dust settles.

He played well and scored a good goal on saturday, but I would sell him and reinvest in the window.
I respect that others will disagree, but I'm not a fan at all.

I’d definitely like to see us extend his contract because I think he will improve a fair amount over the next few years.

Now I’m no sports scientist but I think he will get much stronger (literally) over the next few years. Although he’s 6’3/4 ish and got a reasonable sized frame i don’t think he has quite grown into his frame yet and as he gets stronger each year it will give him another ‘string to his bow’ and obviously make him more effective as a striker/target man which will also increase his confidence and make him a better goal scorer.

Also he has probably played most of his professional football on the wings so as he gains experience in the striker role, hopefully that will improve him aswell.

I think he will also have the ability to change his game when he starts to lose his pace as he gets into his late 20s and 30s into an out and out target man / striker due to the what I said above about developing strength and power as the years go by.

I think you need a reality check though Indeedo. The days of signing strikers like Viduka and JFH and long gone.

Fletcher's scored 11 in a struggling side. He's a young lad, still improving and he's got pace and strength. We don't have any money to splash out on a replacement and even if we did it would probably be someone similar.

We need to have patience and nurture our young players like Fletcher, Tav, Wing, Spence and Coulson. That's the ONLY way forward for MFC at this point in time not as you suggest cash in/get rid etc. just because we don't get instant success !

You're wrong Indeedido...

For a club like us i.e. have to sell. Spence and Coulson could bring in many many millions, I bet liverpool have an eye on them for starters.
