Ashley fletcher

Good move for everyone, Fletcher obviously wants to earn as much money as possible even if it means sitting on the bench for the next few years. Good luck to him.

Watford get a young striker for free who is happy to sit on the bench as the 4th choice striker and not rock the boat. They can sell him in a couple of years and recoup what they've spent on his wages.

We get a player off our books and save on his wages, let's be honest he was injured for half his time here and for the time he did play he was pretty average as well.

Standby for him to play 30 odd games and score 10-15 goals and some fecker sign him for 20-30mil the following season. I give up if this happens😂

The lad has had 2 very well paid longterm contacts without ever actually doing anything to earn one. We paid 7mil and a decent 4 year deal based on 5 goals on 21 games on loan at Barnsley in league 1. This site is melting down over us being linked with 10 goal champo forwards

You have to credit someone. He's busy been contracted for 9 years with two clubs. You look around and players are getting 2 year (maybe option of 3rd) at best.

A 5 year deal..... Stunning. I mean even if he's cr*p he could happily sit for 5 years on 16k a week and not bat an eyelid. Bravo👏😂

I wonder where Britts gonna turn up? I imagine he's going to have to be realistic on wages. I can't see him getting much more than half of what we paid him.

I know it’s a head scratcher but believe it or not he is very highly rated & a lot of clubs would have loved to get his signing for their club.
There was quite a big scramble for his signature when he decided to leave us but from what I can gather that was mostly championship clubs. Let’s see how he does in the prem be interesting to see if we have let another one go I doubt it but let’s see.

If he sits on the bench for 5 years he'll earn 4.16m pounds. Even taking away the tax and other deductions this deal will still set him up for the rest of his life.

I dare say his 4 years ay Boro on £20k odd per week, not to mention his cut of his fee, he will already be set for the rest of his life.

Plus the signing on fee being out of contract , which is always a hefty lump replacing a transfer fee. Robbie savage wrote years ago in his book "you only need a 4 yr PL contract to be set for life " , they are still coining it in regardless of no one being there still !

Fletcher is a fraud. Big lad, decent pace, brought up in top academy, given every opportunity.
He has no heart, no fight. He is also just a nothing player.

Watford think they are getting cheap cover as striker - yet he doesn't score goals.
They will find in 6 months that they have a player they will never play, with 4.5 years left on his contract and absolutely no sale value because nobody will pay him what they are.

I wish him no luck whatseover, he's already had enough to last several lifetimes.

I've seen enough in Fletcher to believe there is a player in there. I don't think it is a coincidence that he has got a long contract with Watford. I suspect a few may be eating humble pie in a year or two. Or maybe not, maybe the missing part is between his ears and he never fulfils his promise. I'll keep an interested eye on him.

He had 4 managers whilst at Boro. Two experienced old heads, one young manager and a rookie. Plus Coleman during his loan spell at the mackems. He didn't set the world alight under any of them and doesn't have a great injury record.

He'll be remembered as a Boro player for his goal against West Brom, but on the whole he was a big disappointment, especially given the hype and the fee we paid.

Worth a punt if you are Watford to be fair, if it doesn't work out there they'll get some return on their 'investment' unlike us!

Reminds me of Daniel Sturridge (though without the talent) as the type of player who won't play with a little knock or if it just doesn't feel "quite right". A fanny basically.

Not sure why we didn't try and sell him last summer, or was he injured? I suspect his stupid wages put everyone off.
