Mural unveiled yesterday in Darlington to the world's first professional black footballer, Arthur Wharton.
It looks stunning I think.
Shaun Campbell has made it his life's work to get recognition for Arthur.
Quoted in the Northern Echo, he says.
"We're painting a seminal moment for Darlington, it's a mural of Arthur Wharton, the world's first black professional footballer, also the world's first fastest man on the planet and this will all get launched on the 28th of October, which is the 155th anniversary of Arthur Wharton. Welcome to a great piece of art."

Couldn't work out where it was exactly, the building it is painted on is actually in Drury Street (corner of Widdowfield Street) in the Denes area of Darlo (if you know it)

Looks great I'll have to pop along to have a look.

Am just asking Shaun a few questions about the mural and Arthur Wharton and the Foundation - fantastic what Shaun is doing to revive the memory of the remarkable Arthu Wharton.

Like the other thread on street art , this great , as are all the others on the other thread .
I hope we can get something going re the wall of chem oxy .

Arthur Wharton mural was launched/unveiled yesterday. I have sent some questions to Shaun Campbell - but I guess he has been very busy. And in any case I haven't got any proper content pages just now.
