Alot of transfer activity has already taken place, i was hoping we'd be in for the below:
Ethan Galbraith (off to Swansea)
Emil Riise (signed for Brizzle)
Thelo Aasgaard (off to Rangers)
Kaine Kesler-Hayden (signed for Cov)
Harry Darling (signed for Norwich)
Kwame Puko (signed for QPR)
Sorba Thomas (signed for Stoke)
Appreciate it's still early July, hoping there is quite a bit of movement in the next 10 days, we are massively short of quality at the moment.
A long time to go yet.
That's only 7 players, are any of them good enough for a promotion or play-off side?
I've only really heard of Riis and Kesler-Hayden. Riss is not good enough (for what we need), he's gone backwards since his fairly good year in 2021. Kesler-Hayden was Preston's best player, but it doesn't say much, they finished 20th.
How many clubs are a similar level to us or would be looking at similar level players to those you listed or players we need? I get you've shown 6 champo clubs there, but that's 6/24.
Some of those are centre mids, which is the least of our worries unless Hackney goes (but we do still need some depth there).
Things have been quiet on the rumour front, but it will probably be down to only just getting in a new "head coach". Being head coach Edwards he won't have much say in who makes up our target list, but will be the one identifying which positions we need to strengthen, and he will only have a good grip on that after seeing the players train for a bit, he's only had a few days with them, and about a week at the club.
In an ideal world, the club should already know where our problems lie, as I assume Carrick was telling them the same thing. Hopefully they've been doing their homework, and it's of a good standard.
I assume Scott, Edwards, Gibbo, Bausor etc will be talking regularly now about what we need, showing Edwards the possible solutions we could realistically get, and then he's going to need to take a look at those, it will take a little time. The window doesn't close for about two months, hopefully we get the right players, rather than rushing to get players through the door.
