It would appear that those of us further up the river have no sobriquet. Geordies, Mackems, Sandancers, Poolies, Smoggies and Pit Yackers all can celebrate their nicknames but we don’t seem important enough.

Since you mention it, we’ve binge watched the first five to save the last episode for later. Deciding to watch the last episode over the weekend we discovered the option was no longer available and so we’ll have to wait a few week.
We enjoyed what we saw.

Very true. Although ICI (which surely helped bring about the name 'smoggy') was in Billingham, which is both north of the river and not full of Sunderland fans (other than Jamie Bell).

Smoggies to me is anyone who comes from within 7 miles of the River Tees, from Urlay Nook eastwards.
